“The updates introduce powerful, intuitive features designed to foster safer and more enriching digital experiences for children while enhancing responsiveness and user-friendliness across Apple products,” Apple elucidated.
Compatible iPhones for iOS 27
The new update is compatible with every iPhone model launched from 2019 onwards, implying that any device operating on iOS 26 can seamlessly transition to this new version.
This encompasses the complete iPhone 11 series through to the iPhone 17 lineup, including the iPhone 17e and iPhone Air.
Notably, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, due to be released on September 18, will come with iOS 27 pre-installed.
New Features in iOS 27

The most notable enhancement is Siri AI, now an advanced iteration of Apple’s voice assistant, which leverages personal context and offers an array of new voice options, along with a dedicated standalone application for the first time. Additionally, Siri mode has been integrated into the camera.
However, these features are confined to iPhone 16 models and beyond, alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple Intelligence has broadened its reach across more applications, introducing capabilities like Spatial Reframing, allowing users to adjust or extend photos post-capture.
Safari can now organize tabs by topic, and a new Notify Me feature watches web pages for alterations, alerting users when changes occur.
The Phone app has integrated Call Context, which can automatically identify and highlight significant details during a call, such as confirmation codes.
A calendar update allows for natural language event descriptions, while the Home app now features activity notifications and an enhanced camera footage search option.
Accessibility advancements include improvements to the magnifier tool, enhancements to voice control, along with additional options for creating Genmoji.
Moreover, refined child safety features include an updated setup process, enhanced communication safety measures, and innovative time allowance tools that enable parents to impose per-app usage restrictions for their children.
Liquid Glass, Apple’s aesthetic layer, can now be adjusted with a dedicated slider to tailor its appearance, while Mail, Photos, and Spotlight have seen advancements in search functionality.
Additionally, Alarms and Timers can now maintain independent volume settings, separate from system sound levels.
Downloading and Installing iOS 27
To procure the update, users should navigate to the Settings app, select General, then Software Update, and subsequently choose Download and Install.
It is crucial to recognize that the file size is substantial, and elevated demand during the launch may result in delays in availability.
Samsung to Discontinue Two Augmented Reality Apps
In related developments, Samsung has announced plans to retire its AR Doodle and Quick Measure augmented reality applications on December 31, 2026. Following this date, these apps will be removed from the Galaxy App Store.
The company indicated that future One UI versions will not support these applications, and newer models, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, already lack compatibility.

AR Doodle enables users to create virtual drawings through their cameras, while Quick Measure utilizes augmented reality for spatial estimations of objects and environments.
Samsung has encouraged users with compatible devices to download these applications before the specified deadline, although support for the related Deco Pic app will extend until December 31, 2027.
