Meta Introduces America’s Workforce Academy to Accelerate Skilled Trades Training
Meta is set to unveil America’s Workforce Academy (AWA), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at expediting the transition of individuals into robust careers within skilled trades.
Backed by an initial investment of $115 million in its inaugural year, this no-cost program supports participants throughout their training and ensures job placement for every graduate.
According to Meta, this commitment represents the most substantial private-sector investment in skilled trades, boasting what it calls the “job guarantee” in American history. The academy’s pilot campuses will launch in Louisiana, Ohio, Indiana, and Texas.
Dina Powell McCormick, President and Vice-Chairman of Meta, remarked, “The advent of artificial intelligence is ushering in not only transformative change but also unparalleled opportunities.
Skilled laborers have been pivotal in electrifying rural America pole by pole, as well as manning the manufacturing facilities that produced the arsenal to secure victory in World War II.”
The program aims to rectify a substantial gap in the domestic labor market, which currently demands hundreds of thousands of professionals such as fiber technicians, welders, plumbers, and electricians.
Graduates will receive dual credentials: the industry-respected National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credential, along with the America’s Workforce Certificate. These credentials are intended to be portable, granting workers recognition across various employers and industry sectors.

The nation urgently requires multitudes of skilled tradespeople—electricians, mechanics, fiber technicians, and more—and this program establishes clear, attainable pathways into these fields.”
Meta’s AWA initiative builds upon the enthusiasm generated by its earlier project, Level-Up, a fiber installation training program that garnered 35,000 applications in just the first week.
To implement AWA, Meta is collaborating with organizations such as the National Urban League, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), and CBRE, alongside numerous local community partners.

Workers are compensated while they learn, eliminating financial barriers and college debt while offering expedited certification and guaranteed employment thereafter.
