Anthropic Prepares for Public Offering with S-1 Filing
In a significant development, Anthropic has lodged its S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), marking a pivotal step toward its forthcoming initial public offering (IPO).
Though an exact date for the IPO remains undisclosed, projections indicate that the company may initiate stock marketing efforts to potential investors during the week of November 9, followed by a probable public launch within days thereafter.
The underwriting prowess of Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley will facilitate this IPO. The marketing campaign will see these esteemed underwriters collaborating with Anthropic’s dedicated team to promote the shares to institutional investors and other significant contenders.
Enthusiasm surrounding this offering suggests it could emerge as one of the year’s most consequential events within the stock market, occurring around mid-November.
Anthropic’s IPO: A Landmark Event on the Horizon
The prospectus submitted by Anthropic reveals that the firm achieved an astonishing $16.3 billion in sales during the first half of 2026.
In stark contrast, the previous year saw sales of merely $1.2 billion within the corresponding timeframe. However, the company’s net losses have surged dramatically, escalating to $80.7 billion from approximately $13 billion.
Importantly, Anthropic has yet to disclose the anticipated listing price for its IPO, the number of shares slated for the initial offering, or the total outstanding shares.
As such, the specifics around the company’s desired valuation and fundraising objectives upon going public remain ambiguous.
Despite the palpable excitement surrounding Anthropic’s IPO, some analyses suggest that the company may seek a valuation considerably lower than the previously forecasted $2 trillion market cap.
Current estimates now indicate that the company could debut its stock with a valuation nearer to $1.5 trillion.
Earlier this year, Space Exploration Technologies broke records for the highest amount raised during an IPO alongside the most substantial valuation at the time of its public offering.
SpaceX set its stock price at $135 per share, culminating in a market valuation of $1.77 trillion, and subsequently raised $85.7 billion through stock sales.
Although it appears Anthropic’s pricing strategy could position its market cap beneath SpaceX’s milestone, the entity, a frontrunner in artificial intelligence model development, might opt to issue additional shares to fund its ambitious computing investments.

Much like SpaceX, the performance of Anthropic’s stock could have significant ramifications for the vitality of the artificial intelligence sector and the overall health of the capital market.
