Salesforce to Acquire Braze in Strategic Move to Enhance AI and Customer Engagement

Salesforce has announced its intention to acquire the marketing technology firm Braze for an estimated $5.66 billion (approximately A$8.1 billion in enterprise value).

This acquisition, revealed on October 20, 2026, is strategically designed to bolster Salesforce’s artificial intelligence capabilities while expanding its suite of customer engagement tools.

Under the terms of the agreement, Salesforce will pay $47.50 in cash for each share of Braze, representing a notable premium of approximately 58% relative to the company’s last closing price prior to the announcement. The transaction is anticipated to finalize within Salesforce’s financial year of 2028.

Headquartered in New York, Braze offers a sophisticated customer engagement platform that empowers businesses to collect and respond to customer behaviors in real time.

Utilizing artificial intelligence, Braze’s technology facilitates personalized communications across several digital channels, including mobile applications, websites, emails, and text messages.

The platform currently supports around 2,770 customers, which includes notable names such as the Australia-based design platform Canva, alongside Equinox, Instacart, Dairy Queen, and Venmo.

Salesforce intends to leverage Braze’s innovative technology to augment its Marketing Cloud offerings and integrate these capabilities throughout its extensive platform, including Agentforce, which consists of an array of AI-driven agents designed for business applications.

This acquisition is projected to enhance Salesforce’s ability to assist companies in personalizing customer interactions on a large scale by harnessing real-time behavioral data to optimize messaging, channel selection, and timing.

Patrick Stokes, Salesforce’s President of Applications and Marketing, emphasized that Braze’s technology will seamlessly complement the company’s existing customer relationship management and data platforms, fostering more individualized customer engagements.

Following several quarters characterized by stagnant or declining growth, the acquisition represents Salesforce’s strategic maneuver to rejuvenate its marketing software division. Braze’s specialized expertise in mobile engagement and instantaneous personalization is anticipated to be a vital asset in this endeavor.

This acquisition marks yet another significant investment for Salesforce as it seeks to expand its artificial intelligence capabilities in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Recent transactions also include Salesforce’s $3.6 billion acquisition of the AI platform Fin and an $8 billion agreement for the data management firm Informatica, alongside plans to acquire the content platform Contentful.

Salesforce has indicated that the Braze acquisition is not expected to alter its financial guidance for fiscal year 2027.

Chief Operating and Financial Officer Robin Washington noted that the company does not foresee the need for debt financing to facilitate this purchase.

For Braze, this transition opens the door to Salesforce’s expansive customer base and technological ecosystem, while for Salesforce, the acquisition signifies a pivotal opportunity to strengthen its marketing platform amid a surge in demand for customer communication automation and enhanced digital experiences driven by AI.

The completion of the transaction is contingent upon the customary closing conditions, including requisite regulatory approvals and endorsement from Braze shareholders.
