Samsung Electronics America (SEA), the branch responsible for consumer electronics, encompassing smartphones, televisions, displays, and home appliances, has confirmed that 739 positions in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, are impacted by this headquarters move to Texas.
As reported to Reuters, the majority of affected personnel have been offered relocation opportunities, while some have unfortunately faced layoffs.
Additionally, a source knowledgeable about the situation indicated that around 100 employees, including several from Samsung’s mobile division in Plano, Texas, have been terminated.
Documents reviewed by Reuters reveal that employees were informed on June 30 of an impending “enterprise-wide reduction-in-force,” which would evoke a “significant number of impacts.”
Furthermore, posts on LinkedIn have indicated that numerous employees across New Jersey, Texas, and other locations nationwide have recently announced their departures from the organization.
In its statement to Reuters, Samsung articulated that the headquarters relocation “may result in modifications to our workforce structure,” noting that some employees might be unable to make the move, or certain roles could be refined to better align with essential business objectives.
