Samsung is poised to unveil its Galaxy Buds On, innovative clip-on earbuds designed for external ear placement, set to hit the market in the United States in early November 2026 at a retail price of $229, as announced by the company on October 28, 2026.

Each earbud, weighing a mere 6.65 grams, offers an impressive 9.5 hours of uninterrupted music playback on a single charge and features a nod-to-answer functionality for incoming calls.

These earbuds will be available exclusively in a sleek Black color, although Samsung has yet to provide a definitive sales date for the US market.

Characterized by Samsung as a complementary accessory to its in-ear models—like the Galaxy Buds4 Pro—these Buds On are tailored for scenarios requiring ambient awareness, such as outdoor running. A supporting band secures each earbud comfortably to the ear during use.

Weight and Battery Life

According to the specifications released by Samsung, each earbud weighs 6.65 grams, while the charging case adds an additional 41 grams.

The company asserts that users can enjoy up to 9.5 hours of music playback directly from the earbuds, summing to a total of 38 hours with the case included. For voice calls, users can expect up to 5.5 hours of talk time, extending to 25 hours with the charging case.

These estimates derive from Samsung’s internal evaluations of pre-production models, tested in conjunction with a Galaxy smartphone under default settings.

To optimize comfort and fit, Samsung analyzed more than 119 million data points related to ear anatomy and employed physics simulations to create the earbud band suitable for various ear contours.

The earbuds boast an IP54 rating, indicating resistance to dust and splashes of freshwater for up to five minutes. However, the case lacks water resistance, necessitating caution against use near beaches or swimming pools.

Equipped within each earbud is an 11.3 mm speaker denoted as TwinBoost, powered by the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform.

Notably, Samsung has integrated a feature termed Audio Leakage Reduction, which generates reversed sound waves to minimize audio leakage. Connectivity is facilitated via Bluetooth 6.2.

Gesture-Controlled Functionality

The innovative Head Gestures allow wearers to accept calls with a nod or decline them with a shake of the head, and similar gestures can be employed to silence alarms or have notifications read aloud.

However, it’s important to note that this functionality is disabled by default and must be activated via the phone settings on devices operating One UI 8.5 or later.

To dismiss alarms and read notifications aloud, a device must run on One UI 9.0 or subsequent versions.

Users can initiate a Gemini Live conversation by saying, “Hey Google, let’s talk live,” though it requires a Google Gemini account and an internet connection, with access restricted to individuals aged 18 and above.

Additionally, a prolonged press on an earbud allows for the recording of Quick Voice Memos, which can then be retrieved by Bixby using voice commands.

The earbuds are equipped with three microphones partnered with a Voice Pickup Unit that detects speech through vibrations from the wearer’s bones and skin.

Samsung claims that an advanced machine learning algorithm is adept at filtering out background noise, effectively isolating the user’s voice in various environments.

For seamless connectivity, Galaxy phone users can link the earbuds merely by opening the charging case, eliminating the necessity for the Galaxy Wearable app installation.

Volume and equalizer settings can subsequently be altered via a Buds shortcut within the phone’s Quick Panel. Samsung notes that device compatibility requires Android 12 or higher with a minimum of 1.5 GB of memory.
