Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Series Achieves 3.1% Global Growth in Initial Weeks: Report
According to a report released on Tuesday, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series has demonstrated a 3.1 percent increase in year-on-year sales globally during the first three weeks post-launch.
Counterpoint Research’s analysis highlights that sales for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max surged by 3.1 percent compared to the same period last year, following their release in September.
Notably, this latest series has outstripped the performance of the iPhone 17 Pro series during the corresponding timeframe, as the report indicates.
The surge in sales has been credited to enhanced early supply compared to previous launches, alongside rising prices for competing flagship models from Chinese Android manufacturers.
While China has bolstered overall growth, weaker performance was observed in other regions.
Furthermore, year-on-year sales in the United States and Japan experienced a downturn, primarily attributed to elevated pricing dampening consumer demand.
The report illustrates that China alone contributed a remarkable 29 percent increase year-on-year.
In the United States, consumers remain unimpressed, perceiving the latest iPhone models as lacking substantial advancements in features or design compared to their predecessors.
Conversely, Japan’s less favorable exchange rate exacerbated price hikes, thereby further suppressing demand.
During the launch period, the iPhone 18 Pro Max constituted 56 percent of overall iPhone 18 Pro series sales, a slight decrease from 57 percent the previous year.
This slight shift was influenced by heightened pricing and stronger demand for the Pro model in emerging markets like India and Southeast Asia.
“Whether this outstanding performance in China signifies sustainable demand or merely front-loaded purchases will become evident in the forthcoming weeks,” remarked Sujeong Lim, associate director at Counterpoint Research.
Lim emphasized that the revitalization of sales volumes in the U.S. and Japan, along with the forthcoming launch of the iPhone Duo, scheduled for Week 43, will be pivotal in shaping immediate demand trends.
Concurrent with this, Research Director Tarun Pathak observed that the demand for the iPhone 18 Pro series shows significant regional variation, affirming that the firm will persist in monitoring sales as the initial surge in demand stabilizes.
Pathak further noted that prolonged smartphone replacement cycles, price hikes related to memory components, and overarching economic uncertainties are hindering upgrades.
Nonetheless, even modest volume growth would prove advantageous for Apple, thanks to an increased mix of higher-end models and incremental upgrades to the Pro lineup, he added.

Pre-bookings for the iPhone Duo remain robust, with demand currently outpacing supply, as reported.
