Anthropic Surpasses OpenAI as Leading Startup Valuation
Anthropic has ascended to the pinnacle of startup valuations, eclipsing OpenAI after securing an impressive $65 billion in fresh funding.
This strategic maneuver has elevated the artificial intelligence firm’s worth to an astounding $965 billion post-money, outpacing OpenAI’s latest valuation of $852 billion, thereby establishing Anthropic as the front-runner in a fiercely competitive landscape of private AI enterprises.
The company disclosed this significant achievement in a recent blog post, announcing that the Series H funding round garnered support from notable investors such as Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital.
In a testament to its burgeoning success, Anthropic also reported that its annualized revenue run rate has surged past $47 billion, underscoring the swift expansion of its AI operations.
A remarkable transformation has seen Anthropic’s revenue trajectory soar from approximately $10 billion last year to the current $47 billion, driven by a burgeoning demand for its AI chatbot, Claude, among businesses and developers alike.
Claude: The Revenue Catalyst
A key factor propelling Anthropic’s meteoric rise is Claude, the company’s sophisticated AI model and chatbot platform.
Increasingly, enterprises across various sectors are integrating Claude into their daily operations, while many individuals are gravitating towards the chatbot and its associated tools for professional tasks.
Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s chief financial officer, noted that Claude has become “increasingly indispensable” to a global clientele, as demand intensifies for offerings such as Claude Code and Cowork.
The latest infusion of capital will facilitate enhancements in infrastructure, accelerate AI research, and broaden the reach of Claude in workplaces worldwide.
This funding round has attracted a diverse array of investors, including Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ, and XN.
Anthropic has also indicated that it includes $15 billion in previously committed investments from hyperscalers, notably $5 billion from Amazon.
Strategic infrastructure partners, such as Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix, have also participated in this funding endeavor.
Strategic Expansion Initiatives
In a bid to sustain its expansion, Anthropic has extensively augmented its computing resources. The firm has entered into agreements with Amazon for up to five gigawatts of additional capacity, with Google and Broadcom for five gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacities, and with SpaceX for access to GPU resources through its innovative Colossus infrastructure.
Currently, Claude is accessible through Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, though AWS remains Anthropic’s predominant cloud and training partner.
The recent figures accentuate how Anthropic’s enterprise-centric strategy has fundamentally transformed the AI industry.

While OpenAI is prominently linked to consumer-oriented products like ChatGPT, Anthropic has strategically positioned Claude as an essential tool for businesses, developers, and complex coding workflows.
Particularly, Claude Code has emerged as one of the fastest-growing offerings from the company, serving as a pivotal driver of revenue influx.
