Amazon Implements Price Hikes on Gadgets in Canada
In a recent development reported by iPhone in Canada, Amazon has enacted a price increase on several of its devices in Canada.
This adjustment follows an exclusive revelation by Fortune, which detailed similar hikes in the United States overnight. An Amazon representative confirmed this price adjustment.
Devices including Echo speakers, Kindles, Fire TV sticks, and eero mesh networks have seen notable price surges on Amazon.ca.
The entry-level Echo Dot and the Kindle Paperwhite experienced some of the most substantial increases, soaring by over 50 percent from their previous list prices.
Listed below are the notable price adjustments:
- Echo Dot (5th Gen): $104.99 (previously $69.99), an increase of $35 or 50 percent
- Echo Show 8: $289.99 (previously $249.99), an increase of $40 or 16 percent
- Echo Show 11: $359.99 (previously $299.99), an increase of $60 or 20 percent
- Kindle (16GB): $189.99 (previously $144.99), an increase of $45 or 31 percent
- Kindle Paperwhite (16GB): $279.99 (previously $184.99), an increase of $95 or 51 percent
- Fire TV Stick HD: $69.99 (previously $49.99), an increase of $20 or 40 percent
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max: $129.99 (previously $79.99), an increase of $50 or 63 percent
- eero 7 Mesh Router (3-pack): $569.99 (previously $499.99), an increase of $70 or 14 percent
- eero Pro 7 Mesh System: $1,139.99 (previously $999.99), an increase of $140 or 14 percent
Notably, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max experienced the most drastic change at 63 percent, with the Kindle Paperwhite’s $95 increase being the largest dollar rise outside the eero Pro 7 pack.
As reported by Sebastian Herrera of Fortune, the price hikes were attributed to “significant increases in memory and storage component costs.”
Amazon stated that it had absorbed these escalations for an extended period before revising its pricing strategy.
The company remains committed to providing competitive prices, including promotional offerings throughout the year. It is important to note that Ring products were excluded from this recent price adjustment in the U.S.
The timing of the price increases coincides with Amazon’s global CEO, Andy Jassy, visiting Vancouver for a fireside chat with over 200 employees and a livestream accessible to Amazon’s 46,000 Canadian workers. This event was highlighted in a LinkedIn post by Eva Lorenz, VP and Country Manager for Amazon Canada.
During this discussion, topics encompassed Amazon’s initiatives in artificial intelligence, investments in Canadian communities, and strategies for reaching customers in remote areas.

Jassy also left with mementos of Canadian rock, including memorabilia from bands such as Rush, The Guess Who, and The Tragically Hip.
Consumers seeking Echo, Kindle, or Fire Stick bargains are advised to explore third-party listings and to await the next Prime Day-style sale instead of assuming a return to prior list prices.
