Significant Investment in Recruitment Technology
The visionary behind cyber security firm Mimecast, Peter Bauer, has recently allocated £3 million to Willo, a recruitment technology platform situated in Glasgow.
This investment constitutes the most substantial single funding round in Willo’s history, elevating the total capital raised by the company to over £5.9 million.
Bauer, a co-founder of Mimecast established in 2003 and instrumental in guiding it to its initial public offering, has now invested more than £3.7 million in Willo within the last 18 months.
His involvement will extend to advising the company’s strategic expansion into the United States.
Founded in 2020 by Scottish entrepreneurs Euan Cameron, Andrew Wood, and Hamish Livingston, Willo has experienced phenomenal growth, boasting a remarkable 64-fold increase in revenue since its inception, with an impressive 70% surge anticipated in 2025.
Its platform is already utilized by industry giants such as Toyota, Samsung, DPD Group, and the NHS.
- Willo operates across 195 nations.
- The platform facilitates millions of candidate interviews annually.
The latest funding is earmarked to bolster Willo’s expansion efforts in North America, where the company currently derives over half of its revenue.
Additionally, it will accelerate the launch of Willo Verified Profiles, an innovative feature that aims to assist employers in discerning genuine candidates amidst the pervasive noise generated by artificial intelligence in the hiring arena.
Cameron remarked, “Employers report being inundated with AI-generated CVs that are cumbersome to verify, complicating the identification of truly qualified candidates.”
“The introduction of Willo Verified Profiles will inject a new level of trust into the hiring procedure by authenticating identity, qualifications, skills, and experience through a blend of automation, third-party data, and video interaction.”

He further noted, “With countless businesses vying for Peter Bauer’s investment, his decision to reinforce his support for Willo in 2025 speaks volumes about our vision and progress.”
Bauer himself professed, “Willo stands out as a pioneering and dynamic player in the recruitment technology landscape. It simplifies hiring for organizations, enhances accessibility for candidates, and reinstates trust in the process.”
“The team has devised a solution adept at confronting the challenges of today’s market, and I am fully committed to their vision for the next growth phase.”
The newly acquired funding will also propel new hiring initiatives across both the UK and the US, with a North American headquarters planned for the eastern seaboard of the United States.
