Delhi University Partners with Google Cloud to Enhance Student Skill Sets

Delhi University has unveiled a transformative multi-year partnership with Google Cloud, aimed at equipping students with cutting-edge competencies in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, and digital literacy.

This initiative aspires to prepare students for a tech-centric job landscape, merging academic prowess with practical applications.

The programme promises to extend beyond mere technical training, encompassing opportunities such as industry-recognised certifications, hackathons, mentorship programs, startup incubation support, and specialised workshops led by Google for educational enhancement.

Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to engage in campus hackathons and webinars that mimic real-world problem-solving scenarios.

PARTNERSHIP IN LINE WITH NEP 2020

Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta articulated that this collaboration aligns seamlessly with the overarching framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

He remarked, “The acceleration in technology adoption is undeniable. Delhi University has already introduced numerous courses in alignment with NEP 2020; this partnership with Google Cloud will significantly enrich our offerings, providing students with skills that are future-oriented.”

Dr. Gupta emphasised that the initiative is crafted not merely to enhance employability but also to foster the adaptability and confidence essential for navigating rapidly evolving career landscapes.

UNIVERSITY LEADERS APPLAUD THE PARTNERSHIP

Professor Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges, conveyed his pride in the university’s accomplishments, stating, “Delhi University stands as the premier institution in the country. This collaboration will yield benefits for both DU and Google.”

He underscored that the programme epitomises the university’s dedication to delivering quality education that remains globally relevant while addressing the specific needs of Indian students.

Professor Sanjeev Singh, another key participant in the initiative, accentuated that the programme is designed to transcend conventional learning paradigms.

He confirmed that the structure will feature practical labs, regular evaluations, and certifications from leading industry courses. This training, he asserted, will ensure that graduates possess credentials that are actively recognised and sought after by employers.

GOOGLE CLOUD’S VISION

Shashi Sreedharan, Managing Director (India) at Google Cloud, elaborated on the broader significance of this initiative within the educational ecosystem.

He stated, “Technology serves as a formidable equaliser. It is essential that the next generation of talent in India is equipped with applicable, future-ready skills. Our collaboration with Delhi University marks a pivotal stride towards cultivating an AI-enabled academic environment in India.”

Through this collaboration, Google Cloud seeks to foster innovation and close the skills gap among students who are on the verge of stepping into India’s technology workforce.

PREPARING FUTURE-READY GRADUATES

This skilling initiative is poised to unlock numerous opportunities for Delhi University students, extending beyond traditional employment sectors to encompass entrepreneurship and research.

With included startup incubation support, the programme could serve as a catalyst for aspiring entrepreneurs to develop ventures that leverage AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics to address real-world challenges.

The partnership between Delhi University and Google Cloud signifies a resolute commitment to merging academic learning with experiential insight, thereby fortifying students for the exigencies of the global digital economy.
