Apple Unveils the Redesigned iPad Mini
Apple has taken a substantial leap forward in its tablet offerings with the introduction of the latest iPad Mini.
This newly revamped model boasts a slimmer silhouette, a larger OLED display, enhanced durability ratings, and a remarkable performance upgrade powered by Apple’s innovative A20 Pro architecture.
Refined Profile and Enhanced Durability
With a mere thickness of 5.4mm, the refreshed chassis significantly reduces profile depth while retaining a compact appearance.
It is available in elegant midnight and starlight hues and is equipped with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, safeguarding it against various environmental conditions.
Additionally, the design accommodates a brand-new two-panel Smart Folio accessory, crafted from TechWoven fabric in navy blue and taupe.
Super Retina XDR OLED Display with Optional Nano-Texturing
While the physical dimensions remain akin to its predecessor, the device integrates a larger 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR display, achieved through 24% narrower bezels.
Moving to an OLED panel facilitates precise pixel-level illumination control, with P3 wide color support, an impressive 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a minimum brightness of 1 nit for optimal visibility in subdued lighting.
Peak brightness outdoors soars to 1,200 nits—over twice that of the prior generation. For the first time in the mini lineup, Apple introduces an optional nano-texture glass variant, designed to minimize glare in brightly lit environments.
A20 Pro Performance and Advanced On-Device AI
At its core, the tablet is powered by the 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU and a 7-core GPU that includes capabilities for hardware-accelerated ray tracing, mesh shading, and dynamic caching.
Each GPU core is equipped with dedicated Neural Accelerators, resulting in an impressive 4.5x enhancement in machine learning throughput relative to earlier iterations.
Higher-tier configurations, featuring 512GB of storage, can be upgraded to a dual 16-core Neural Engine system, effectively doubling the on-device AI processing potential while also enhancing unified memory bandwidth.
Revolutionary Acoustic Display and Enhanced Optics
The tablet’s internal framework showcases a pioneering Acoustic Display configuration, which integrates custom woofers through the screen layers, enhancing bass output while concealing tweeters to maintain audio clarity.
For video calls, a 12MP Center Stage camera is strategically positioned along the landscape edge. On the rear, a 12MP Wide camera features Smart HDR 4, 4K video recording capabilities up to 60 fps, and an Adaptive True Tone flash for precise document scanning.
Next-Generation Connectivity and iPadOS 27
Wireless functionalities receive a significant upgrade with the incorporation of Apple’s N1 networking chip, facilitating support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread protocol.
Cellular options will utilize the C2 modem system, enhancing efficiency and speeding up mobile data transmission, with the added advantage of eSIM flexibility.
The robust software ecosystem is anchored by iPadOS 27, which unveils Liquid Glass interface enhancements and expanded external display compatibility to bolster multitasking capabilities.
Pricing and Availability
The iPad Mini will be offered in Midnight and Starlight finishes, available in 128GB (starting at RM2,999), 256GB (RM3,999), and 512GB (RM4,299) configurations.
Pre-orders for the iPad Mini with A20 Pro will commence on Thursday, October 29, at apple.com/my and through the Apple Store app across 36 countries and regions, including Malaysia.

The product is slated to arrive for customers and will be available at Apple Store locations and Authorized Resellers beginning Friday, November 6.
