Meta has unveiled a preview of its first specialized AI coding agent, dubbed Muse Code, which provides affordable API access and features robust integration with its latest Muse Spark 1.2 model.
- Meta launched its inaugural terminal coding agent, Muse Code, developed under the leadership of AI chief Alexandr Wang.
- This tool functions in conjunction with the newly introduced Muse Spark 1.2 model.
- Developers can opt for a conventional pay-as-you-go API model or select a significantly discounted contributor tier that offers reductions exceeding 90% in exchange for data sharing.
On Wednesday, Meta Platforms Inc. (META) announced the introduction of Muse Code, its first artificial intelligence coding agent designed to automate intricate software development chores.
This initiative positions Meta to contend directly with leading competitors such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
The announcement, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared on X, signifies a pivotal moment in the tech behemoth’s endeavors to enhance its generative AI landscape.
Under the guidance of Alexandr Wang, head of Meta Superintelligence Labs, Muse Code exemplifies Meta’s latest attempt to rejuvenate and elevate its foundational model offerings since Wang’s appointment last year.
Meta’s stock saw a modest uptick of 0.1% by the close of trading on Wednesday.
Streamlined Engineering Workflows
Muse Code operates as a terminal-based agent, empowering developers to manage AI assistants through a unified interface.
This tool can be activated via a single command line for planning code modifications, executing programming assignments, and validating technical outputs across various software projects.
Presently in the public preview or beta phase, Muse Code runs in synergy with the newly launched Muse Spark 1.2 model.
Distinct from its predecessor released in July, Muse Spark 1.2 has been co-trained with the agent and features a specialized code-management framework to heighten overall execution precision.
Tiered Pricing And Enterprise Features
To capture market share from entrenched services like Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex, Meta is strategically positioning its offering around adaptable pricing rather than merely emphasizing raw benchmark performance.
The pay-as-you-go API is available at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens. Furthermore, Meta has rolled out a substantially discounted “contributor tier.”

This option is priced over tenfold lower than standard rates for developers willing to contribute usage data toward model improvement.
