Apple’s Workforce Reduction: Over 200 Jobs Cut in Siri and Vision Pro Divisions
Apple Inc. has initiated a significant workforce reduction, eliminating over 200 positions within its software engineering, Siri, and Vision Pro departments.
This strategic reconfiguration represents a deliberate shift as the tech behemoth reallocates its resources toward enhanced artificial intelligence functionalities and upcoming hardware innovations.
Revamping Siri for Advanced AI Capabilities
As reported by Bloomberg, approximately 100 job reductions have occurred within the Siri and software engineering sectors, notably affecting the Intelligent Systems Experience unit, which is tasked with developing device-level AI features.
This reorganization primarily targets the antiquated components of the Siri architecture, excluding the newly unveiled, AI-enhanced iteration of the assistant showcased during recent developer events.
As the upgraded platform necessitates distinct technical expertise, Apple is phasing out certain legacy roles, simultaneously creating new positions aligned with the revamped architecture.
Restructuring Vision Pro for Gaming and Immersive Media
Similarly, another 100 positions have been axed from the Vision Pro mixed-reality segment. Under the revised strategic plan, Apple is effectively dismantling its dedicated gaming team for Vision Pro, while also shrinking the internal unit responsible for creating immersive 3D video content.
The exorbitant production costs—individual cinematic episodes reaching into the millions—have catalyzed these changes, particularly in light of slower-than-anticipated uptake of the premium headset.
Nevertheless, Apple reiterates that the Vision Pro and its visionOS operating system remain integral to its long-term hardware strategy.

In response to the organizational changes, Apple issued an official statement acknowledging the realignments: “We will create new roles as part of this change, and it will also affect a limited number of existing positions.
