Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke is spearheading an initiative to introduce Entire, a new AI-oriented developer platform, to the Indian market.

This venture is strategically designed to empower developers and enterprises in software creation, all while ensuring that their code infrastructure remains domestically anchored.

As part of this rollout, Entire has established a dedicated Indian region for its Distributed Git Network, enabling both developers and organizations to host or replicate their Git repositories within the country.

This decision is anticipated to aid businesses in fulfilling data residency mandates while mitigating latency issues that often arise when accessing repositories located abroad.

On social media platform X, Dohmke proclaimed, Today, we are delighted to be the first AI-native developer platform to provide data residency in India.

Now, every developer and their agents in India can conveniently mirror their GitHub repositories, resulting in swift cloning with minimal latency and generous rate limits—all from within their own borders.

The announcement arrives as India ascends to prominence as one of the world’s largest developer landscapes.

Dohmke is optimistic about India’s pivotal role in shaping the future of software engineering and AI-driven coding practices.

“We firmly believe that India is poised to become the largest developer community globally,” Dohmke articulated to AIM.

“We are incredibly enthusiastic about enabling local GitHub repository mirroring and facilitating repository hosting that complies with Indian data residency regulations.”

Enhanced Coding Efficiency through Local Repositories

The expansion into India emphasizes optimizing how developers and AI tools interact with code repositories.

According to Dohmke, maintaining local copies of repositories serves as a valuable asset, allowing developers to persist in their work even during regional connectivity disruptions.

“By mirroring a repository, a reliable copy is always at your disposal,” he explained to AIM. “In the event of a disruption between Indian data centers and those in the United States, access remains unaffected.”

Entire claims that its platform can significantly accelerate repository operations relative to conventional Git workflows.

Reportedly, cloning repositories via its network can surpass GitHub speeds by over threefold, enabling both developers and AI tools to achieve their objectives expeditiously.

The infrastructure is adeptly constructed to accommodate the demanding workloads generated by AI coding instruments.

Entire asserts that its network is capable of managing an impressive 570,000 Git clones per hour from a single repository, alongside approximately 2.1 million Git pushes hourly.

Dohmke founded Entire in September 2025 following his tenure as GitHub CEO. The startup emerged from stealth earlier this year after securing a robust $60 million in seed funding, with aspirations of developing a platform tailored for an era increasingly reliant on AI agents for software writing, testing, and management.

“The developer has become the maestro orchestrating this ensemble of diverse agents functioning both on-premises and in the cloud,” Dohmke conveyed.

Entire’s platform intricately melds distributed Git infrastructure with a sophisticated system that archives AI coding sessions, encompassing prompts, dialogues, and model outputs.

The company posits that this repository of information will provide developers with insights into the rationale behind specific coding decisions, beyond merely observing the end results.

In conjunction with its India launch, Entire has inaugurated its Founding Builders Programme aimed at Indian startups, enterprises, and open-source developers.

Furthermore, the company is bolstering its presence in India, having appointed Karthik Rameshkumar as field CTO. Plans are underway to recruit additional talent remotely throughout the nation.

Notably, the company observes that more than 90% of its software has been developed through AI agents, although human engineers still actively review and contribute to the code.

“This isn’t just vibe-coded,” Dohmke quipped.
