Google is reportedly embarking on the initial phases of developing its forthcoming mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 11a. Insights from recent leaks have shed light on the potential hardware specifications of this device, currently codenamed Formosan.
This model is poised to showcase a series of performance and display upgrades, continuing the trend of enhancement in the company’s A-series portfolio.
Technical Specifications and Tensor G6 Performance
According to a report by Gadgets 360, the Pixel 11a is expected to be powered by Google’s upcoming Tensor G6 chipset, internally referred to as Malibu, complemented by the Titan M3 security chip.
This innovative device will likely feature a 6.3-inch display, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate and an extraordinary peak brightness of 3,350 nits—significantly surpassing its predecessor’s capabilities.
Connectivity and Camera Enhancements
A notable hardware transition observable in the leaks is the shift from Samsung’s Exynos modem to the MediaTek M90 modem.
This transition is anticipated to bolster network stability, enhance connectivity, and improve thermal management.
Additionally, the device is rumored to integrate a new front-facing camera sensor, dubbed “dokkaebi,” coupled with an upgraded Face Unlock functionality aimed at delivering enhanced accuracy in low-light conditions.

The Pixel 11a is projected to integrate a 4,870mAh battery and be equipped with 8GB of RAM. In terms of design aesthetics, consumers can expect four distinctive color variants: Obsidian, Olive, Frost, and Fog.

While the broader Pixel 11 series is speculated to debut around August 2026, analysts suggest that the Pixel 11a will likely follow, with an anticipated official launch in March 2027.
