Verizon Unveils iPhone 18 Pro Series with Annual Upgrade Plan
In a significant development, Verizon has revealed the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max alongside a groundbreaking plan that enables customers to upgrade to a new iPhone each year without the necessity of trading in their existing device.
This announcement was made on September 11, 2026, and positions Verizon as a carrier dedicated to simplicity and affordability in a marketplace frequently criticized for its convoluted trade-in protocols and tiered pricing structures.
The iPhone 18 Pro showcases an innovative 48MP Fusion main camera equipped with a variable aperture and operates on the A20 Pro chip, which Apple claims facilitates the highest sustained performance ever recorded in iPhone history.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro Max boasts the most significant enhancement in battery longevity seen in the iPhone series to date.
Both iterations integrate Apple Intelligence and the newly revamped Siri AI, which is set to debut in beta form alongside iOS 27. Customers can choose from four aesthetic finishes: black, silver, glacier, and wine.
Verizon’s latest Simplicity Pro plan encompasses unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB of premium hotspot data, and standard roaming privileges in both Canada and Mexico—all for a monthly fee of $80, contingent upon Auto Pay and applicable switch discounts, along with taxes and fees.
This plan abolishes activation and upgrade fees for customers who register under Verizon Loyalty. A key feature is the annual upgrade provision: patrons can procure the iPhone 18 Pro today without the necessity of trading in their current model and subsequently return it in good working order to secure an upgraded model each year.
For customers inclined to trade in their devices, Verizon offers discounts up to $1,200 on a new iPhone with an eligible trade-in and the activation of a new line under an eligible myPlan, or a reduction of up to $1,020 for upgrades on existing lines.
In addition, a bundled offer is available: customers who acquire a new iPhone or activate a new line with their own device will receive an Apple Watch and an iPad, credited monthly over 36 months.
Furthermore, Verizon has introduced the iPhone Duo, the inaugural foldable iPhone that unfolds into a remarkable 7.6-inch internal display and folds down to a compact 5.4-inch external display.
Also powered by the A20 Pro chip, it operates on iOS 27 and is offered in two striking colors: star white and night sky.
Preorders for the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5 commence on September 12 at 8 a.m. ET, with general availability slated for September 18. Preorders for the iPhone Duo will begin on October 16.
Verizon Loyalty, accessible to all postpaid subscribers on any plan, grants a 3% cashback incentive in Verizon Dollars each month, which can be redeemed for devices, accessories, or multiplied through affiliated brands.
This initiative also includes Verizon Shine, providing weekly opportunities to win exclusive experiences and daily offers. Enrollment is available via the My Verizon app.
This announcement is significant as it streamlines the upgrade process while diminishing the financial barriers associated with acquiring the latest iPhone, potentially compelling rival carriers to reconsider their offerings.
The elimination of trade-in requirements for yearly upgrades underscores Verizon’s commitment to flexibility and predictability, rather than convoluted agreements.

The introduction of the foldable iPhone Duo further illustrates Verizon’s dedication to providing cutting-edge technology.
