Samsung and Amazon Unveil “HDR10+ ADVANCED” Technology for Prime Video
Samsung Electronics, in partnership with Amazon, showcases its next-generation high-definition video technology “HDR10+ ADVANCED” playing “Prime Video” on a Samsung TV.
On the 4th of the month, Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) announced the integration of “HDR10+ ADVANCED,” an innovative high-definition video technology, into content available on Prime Video, the esteemed global OTT platform. Prime Video, operated by Amazon, serves approximately 250 million users worldwide.
Since Prime Video pioneered the adoption of HDR10+ technology within the OTT sector in 2017, Samsung Electronics and Amazon have nurtured a robust partnership.
The present collaboration aims to enhance the existing HDR10+ ecosystem by incorporating HDR10+ Advanced technology into the content landscape.
HDR10+ Advanced amplifies screen brightness and motion portrayal through groundbreaking features such as “Enhanced Overall Brightness” and “Intelligent Motion Smoothing.”
The “Enhanced Overall Brightness” feature maximizes a television’s brightness potential by leveraging optimal scene-by-scene brightness metrics along with AI-driven tone mapping technology.
This methodology ensures that detailed expressions and vibrant color tones endure, even in luminously bright scenes.
Complementarily, the “Intelligent Motion Smoothing” function scrutinizes content-specific metadata to adeptly adjust frame rates, mitigating screen stutter.
This results in fluid video playback, particularly beneficial for sports events or fast-paced action sequences.
HDR10+ Technologies LLC, which governs the HDR10+ ecosystem, boasts 183 global member companies and over 22,000 certification instances, affirming its status as the vanguard of next-generation video standards.
Samsung plans to embrace HDR10+ Advanced beginning with its 2026 television lineup, intending to broaden model applicability in the future.
Maintaining its position as the global leader in the television market for two decades, Samsung Electronics envisions reinforcing its ultra-high-definition viewing experience through its competitive display technologies, aiming to cultivate a distinct home entertainment milieu.
“HDR10+ Advanced upholds the high-quality benchmarks of global media platforms,” remarked BA Winston, Vice President of Prime Video Technology.
“This advancement enables content creators to convey their intended scenes and intricate details with greater precision.”
“Through our enduring collaboration with Prime Video, we are introducing HDR10+ Advanced content to the world for the first time,” stated Sohn Tae-yong, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business.

“We are committed to ongoing technological innovation, ensuring that audiences can relish detailed scene-by-scene narratives and an immersive viewing experience at home.”
