Pine Labs Partners with Google Cloud to Propel AI-Driven Commerce in India
On Thursday, September 24, Pine Labs unveiled its strategic collaboration with Google Cloud, aimed squarely at enabling Indian merchants to engage in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-driven or “agentic” commerce.
Agentic commerce pertains to transactions where artificial intelligence agents autonomously seek products, conduct comparative analyses, and, in some instances, finalize purchases on behalf of consumers.
The collaboration promises to delve into pivotal areas such as product discovery, merchant operations, and payment processing mechanisms.
As a cornerstone of this partnership, Pine Labs intends to utilize Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform for various applications, including catalog enhancement, improved search functionalities, and the creation of commerce-oriented AI agents.
Moreover, the company is spearheading the development of avant-garde AI tools tailored for merchants.
Notably, this includes an AI advertising agent, designed to assist businesses in crafting and disseminating advertisements across platforms like Search and YouTube, in addition to Pine Labs’ point-of-sale systems.
Separately, Pine Labs Issuing is also in the process of developing a multi-agent platform dubbed ‘Jarvis’, constructed upon the Gemini Enterprise framework. This platform is envisioned to facilitate functions such as program development, system diagnostics, and customer support via the Woohoo platform.
Payments represent another integral component of this evolving collaboration. Pine Labs disclosed that its P3P platform will be instituted as a transactional layer for agentic commerce flows, commencing with UPI and harboring plans to incorporate additional payment solutions in the future.
Furthermore, the platform is poised to uphold the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) frameworks, which are meticulously designed to streamline interactions between AI agents and various commerce systems.
The CEO of Pine Labs, B. Amrish Rau, articulated that the collaboration’s primary objective is to empower smaller enterprises, ensuring they too can partake in the burgeoning AI-led commerce landscape, rather than relegating the technology’s advantages solely to larger corporations.
Amit Kumar, Managing Director of Digital Natives Business at Google Cloud India, emphasized that this partnership would synergize Pine Labs’ robust commerce infrastructure with the advanced AI and analytics capabilities inherent in Google Cloud.
This announcement emerges during a time when various businesses and technology firms are probing the transformative potential of AI agents in areas such as product discovery, customer interaction, and payment processes.
For merchants to successfully navigate these systems, access to AI-readable product catalogs, real-time inventory data, and payment infrastructures that accommodate AI-initiated transactions will be vital.

Pine Labs further asserted that governance and compliance will be integral components of this infrastructure, with its Grantex platform aimed at providing transaction auditability and ensuring adherence to Indian financial regulations.
