Micron Unveils Groundbreaking 512GB DDR5 RDIMM

The design incorporates vertically stacked DRAM dies interconnected via through-silicon vias, enhancing memory density in each individual package.
A dual-socket server with 24 slots utilizing these RDIMMs could support an impressive 12 terabytes of DDR5 memory, as indicated by Micron.
AMD and Intel Validate Micron’s Latest RDIMM
Micron revealed that AMD and Intel are in the process of validating the 512GB RDIMM for their server platforms.
The RDIMM is reportedly capable of delivering up to 1.4 times the performance of existing 256GB DDR5 configurations utilized in Spark-based data analytic processes.
Furthermore, Micron highlighted potential enhancements in throughput and concurrency applicable to databases and caching systems like RocksDB and Redis.
It is crucial to note, however, that performance gains will be heavily dependent on the specific workload and server setup.
