On Saturday, President Donald Trump announced the appointment of Sergio Gor as the Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs and as the next Ambassador to India. Trump praised Gor as a “great friend” who has been a steadfast ally for many years.
Gor, who is 38 years old and currently serving as the director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, will continue in that role until confirmed by the Senate.

Sergio Gorokhovsky, born on November 30, 1986, in Tashkent during the Soviet era, experienced a peripatetic childhood. In 1994, his family emigrated from Uzbekistan to Malta, where his mother opened a business and attained Israeli citizenship.

Before making yet another move to Los Angeles in 1999, young Sergey spent his formative years at De La Salle College, a Catholic boys’ institution, where he acquired proficiency in multiple languages.

By the time he commenced his studies at George Washington University, Gor had already embraced conservative ideologies. While his peers attended lectures, Gor was immersed in establishing a branch of Young America’s Foundation at GWU and ascending the ranks of the College Republicans.
His early involvement in political theater became apparent during the 2008 presidential campaign, when he infamously donned a squirrel costume to ridicule Barack Obama’s affiliation with ACORN, a precursor to the audacious tactics that would characterize his later endeavors.
Sergio Gor’s Role in Trump’s Administration
Despite various scandals and negative media coverage, Gor cemented his reputation as one of Trump’s most trusted insiders. In 2024, he received substantial backing from Isaac Perlmutter, a close associate from Mar-a-Lago and a former Marvel Entertainment executive, for his super PAC.
Gor’s pivotal moment arrived in 2020 when he became the chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee. He soon began collaborating closely with Donald Trump Jr. on book projects, co-founding Winning Team Publishing in 2021, which ultimately produced notable works like Letters to Trump (2023) and Our Journey Together (2021).
When Trump resumed his presidential duties in 2025, Gor ascended to the role of Director of the Presidential Personnel Office. This potent position afforded him significant influence, as it entailed ensuring alignment with Trump’s objectives and meticulously reviewing thousands of nominations.
