Giant Food Appoints New Vice President of Marketing

LANDOVER, Md.—Giant Food, a premier grocery retailer serving the greater Washington, D.C. region, has officially named Gregg Dorazio as its new vice president of marketing.

In this pivotal role, Dorazio will be tasked with amplifying the Giant Food brand, enhancing customer engagement across various platforms, and meticulously aligning marketing strategies with both merchandising and operational frameworks to bolster the company’s growth trajectory.

Dorazio has been an integral part of Giant Food’s leadership echelons since 2019, previously occupying the position of strategy and eCommerce lead.

Throughout his tenure, he has significantly influenced the company’s strategic direction, spearheaded key growth initiatives, and managed Giant Food’s online pickup and delivery services.

Before his association with Giant Food, Dorazio accrued 14 years of brand marketing expertise in leadership roles at Ahold Delhaize and General Mills.

His endeavors have encompassed a wide array of initiatives, including advertising, multicultural marketing, sponsorships, and shopper marketing.

This rich experience endows him with a profound understanding of brand strategy, innovation, eCommerce, and customer augmentation.

“Gregg’s distinctive blend of strategic insight, marketing acumen, and a thorough comprehension of our customer base positions him to adeptly guide Giant Food’s marketing endeavors,” stated Ira Kress, president of Giant Food.

“His leadership has already yielded substantial contributions to our growth and digital evolution, and I am confident he will persist in fortifying our brand while curating enriching experiences for our customers both in-store and online.”

“I am privileged to embrace this position and continue to champion a brand that holds such a vital connection to our communities,” remarked Dorazio.

“I eagerly anticipate collaborating with our exceptional teams to build upon Giant Food’s momentum, deepen our customer relationships, and perpetuate the delivery of innovative and meaningful shopping experiences.”

Dorazio earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from Indiana University.

He actively participates on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County and serves as the executive sponsor of Giant Food’s Corporate Council.

Beyond his professional pursuits, he indulges in stock research, family vacation planning, fitness, photography, and golf.

Dorazio succeeds Dyani Hanrahan, who is set to depart from Giant Food at the end of July following nearly ten years with the company.

Since her arrival in 2017, Hanrahan has been instrumental in modernizing the company’s marketing competencies, enhancing its brand visibility, and nurturing a culture of collaboration and innovation.
