Anticipation Builds for Apple’s Upcoming iPhone Lineup
As the September event approaches, the excitement surrounding Apple’s forthcoming iPhone series has escalated dramatically, particularly concerning the tech giant’s inaugural foray into foldable smartphones.
While official announcements regarding Apple’s 2026 smartphone roadmap remain elusive, insights gleaned from supply chain sources and market analysts suggest a potentially revolutionary rollout approach. This new strategy may entail a postponement of the standard iPhone models’ release until early 2027.
If this projection materializes, the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Air, and iPhone 18e could debut several months later than their Pro counterparts, marking a notable deviation from Apple’s established launch cadence.
Leakage of iPhone Air 2 Specifications
Recent disclosures from Jeff Pu, an investment analyst with GF Securities, provide intriguing insights into the anticipated iPhone Air 2, slated for release in the first trimester of 2027.
According to Pu, this model is expected to harness the power of the A20 Pro chip, which will also be employed in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, fabricated using TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm fabrication process.
The investment brief further detailed that the Air 2 will incorporate a compact version of Dynamic Island. It promises a 48MP ultra-wide lens as a complement to its primary camera.
Moreover, the device is said to integrate Apple’s N2 chip for enhanced wireless connectivity, marking a substantial upgrade from the current N1 chip, with capabilities that support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
This advancement is anticipated to optimize AirDrop functionality and enhance the reliability of Personal Hotspot features.
Moreover, the Air 2 is expected to utilize Apple’s C2 modem to facilitate 5G connectivity, a chip that will also make an appearance in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in select markets.
The device is projected to feature a 6.5-inch display, alongside 12GB of RAM and an 18MP front-facing camera, mirroring its antecedent in many respects.
iPhone 18 Pro Insights
The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to maintain much of the design language established with the iPhone 17, as Apple is unlikely to embark on significant aesthetic modifications in 2026.
Nonetheless, a vibrant palette of new hues may soon grace the devices. Sources such as Sonny Dickson and Instant Digital have suggested the potential unveiling of a striking cherry red and a nuanced light blue, alongside the familiar dark grey.
Dickson has also circulated images of prospective dummy units, including one in light grey.
Furthermore, the battery capacity is projected to experience a marginal increase, with the succeeding model anticipated to be 0.25mm thicker and 7 grams heavier.
In terms of design adjustments, the Dynamic Island is expected to shrink slightly on the Pro variants. Additionally, the Face ID sensor and its illuminator may be repositioned to one corner beneath the display.
Prominent upgrades are slated to include a variable aperture camera, along with the A20 chip, leveraging TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which will replace the previous generation’s 3nm technology.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is anticipated to feature a hefty 5,200mAh battery, representing a slight increase from the 5,088mAh power cell found in its predecessor.
