Tech Entrepreneur Exits Meta to Establish AI Venture

An Indian-origin software engineer has made headlines by resigning from his lucrative position at Meta, where he earned an impressive $300,000 annually (approximately ₹2.89 crore).

Prakshal Jain has decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial journey, asserting that artificial intelligence (AI) possesses the potential to fundamentally transform human-computer interactions.

In a post on X, Jain revealed that he, alongside collaborator Alex Morris, are stepping out of stealth mode after seven months of intensive development on their startup, Mitosis Labs.

In his announcement on X, Jain stated, “I quit my $300,000 job at Meta. Alex Morris and I are coming out of stealth to launch Mitosis Labs.”

According to Jain’s LinkedIn profile, he dedicated approximately 3.5 years to Meta, primarily as part of the Comet Frameworks Team.

In his post, he elaborated on his background, highlighting his role as a frontend engineer responsible for crafting XR and web experiences.

His team notably played a part in launching Facebook and Instagram on Meta Quest in 2024 and contributed to various Meta AI applications.

Expounding on the rationale behind his career pivot, Jain expressed that his reliance on AI tools has eclipsed traditional apps and websites.

“I caught myself living in my terminal. I stopped going to websites or using apps. I’d just ask ChatGPT or Claude Code to find things or do things for me,” he remarked.

He further articulated that his experiences culminated in a profound realization: “The best UX is no UI.” Jain underscores that screens and interfaces currently thrive on humanity’s lingering skepticism toward machines.

As AI capabilities continue to evolve, he posits that auxiliary cognitive burdens may dissipate, all while privacy and data control will gain paramount importance.

To validate his vision, Jain developed a personal AI agent trained on his entire digital footprint. “I built a personal agent, fed it my entire digital footprint, and my iPhone screen time dropped 78% in three weeks,” he asserted, illustrating the significant impact of AI in everyday tasks.

Fueled by his motivations, Jain aspires to create technology that liberates individuals from mundane digital chores such as tax filings and form completions, ensuring that AI integration remains secure and upholds user privacy.

A person's hand extends towards a laptop screen with a graphic of a blue, geometric handshake appearing, symbolizing digital connectivity or online agreements.

He also noted that many enterprises are failing to harness the full potential of AI, as they often treat it merely as an interface problem, neglecting to reconsider the underlying technology.

Mitosis Labs aims to remedy this by integrating a robust intelligence layer with an intuitive interface accessible to broader demographics, extending beyond Silicon Valley.

Having spent the last seven months developing his startup, Jain announced the introduction of three pioneering products: Mitosis Cortex, Yappy, and UFA & Wikipedia.

“We’ve been building for 7 months. I’m truly excited to finally reveal our hard work to you in the coming days!” he concluded.
