Enforcement Directorate Launches Nationwide Raids in Government Job Scam Investigation
New Delhi, January 8 (ANI): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated sweeping searches on Thursday, targeting a sophisticated syndicate implicated in a fraudulent government job scheme that exploited aspirants by promising non-existent positions across various governmental agencies.
Beginning in the early morning hours, operations are currently in progress at 15 distinct locations nationwide.
Coordinated by the agency’s Patna Zonal office, search efforts are unfolding in three locales in Bihar, two in West Bengal, four in Kerala, one in Tamil Nadu, one in Gujarat, and four in Uttar Pradesh, in close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies.
The targeted locations encompass Muzaffarpur (one) and Motihari (two) in Bihar; Kolkata (two) in West Bengal; one each in Ernakulam, Pandalam, Adoor, and Kodur in Kerala; Chennai (one) in Tamil Nadu; Rajkot (one) in Gujarat; and Gorakhpur (two), Prayagraj (one), and Lucknow (one) in Uttar Pradesh.
Officials divulged that what began as a scam associated with Indian Railways has now exhibited a breadth, encompassing over 40 governmental entities, which include the Forest Department, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Indian Post, Income Tax Department, High Courts, Public Works Department (PWD), Bihar Government, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and the Rajasthan Secretariat, among others.

Investigative insiders revealed that the perpetrators utilized counterfeit email accounts masquerading as legitimate governmental domains to disseminate forged appointment letters and joining documents.
“In a bid to foster trust, the accused executed initial salary disbursements for two to three months to select victims, positioning them in roles such as RPF personnel, Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs), and Technicians within Indian Railways,” they added. (ANI)
