Huawei Gears Up for Release of Blood Pressure Monitoring Smartwatch
Huawei appears to be on the brink of unveiling a new smartwatch tailored for blood pressure monitoring, as recent certification records hint at the anticipated launch of the Huawei Watch D3, a successor to the previously released Watch D2.
This intriguing device has been cataloged in Indonesia’s SDPPI certification database.
The listing details two variants designated by the model numbers RIV-B10 and RIV-B11, though it remains unclear what specific features differentiate these two iterations.
This certification emerges in conjunction with Huawei’s imminent global product launch event scheduled in Munich on September 2, where the tech giant is poised to reveal an array of new devices within its ‘Chase the Wild’ marketing initiative.
While promotional materials from Huawei predominantly highlight the Watch GT series, this recent certification implies that additional high-end wearables may be set for introduction.
The Watch D3 is poised to supplant the Huawei Watch D2, which made its global debut in 2024 and garnered attention for integrating standard smartwatch functionalities with specialized blood pressure monitoring mechanisms embedded in its wristband.
In contrast to many smartwatches that gauge cardiovascular parameters via optical sensors, the Watch D2 employs a sophisticated cuff and airbag system for accurate blood pressure assessments.
Huawei claims that the device can not only measure blood pressure but can also track these readings at regular intervals—even while the wearer is asleep. Furthermore, it holds CE-MDR certification as a medical device in Europe.
Additionally, the D2 facilitates electrocardiogram measurements and has been strategically positioned as a health-centric wearable, transcending the traditional role of mere fitness trackers.
The arrival of the D3 certification is particularly noteworthy, considering that dedicated blood pressure monitoring is still relatively rare among mainstream smartwatches.
According to Notebookcheck, rival devices like Apple’s Watch Series 11, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch9, and Google’s Pixel Watch 5 do not adopt a similar cuff-based mechanism for on-device blood pressure monitoring.
While Huawei has yet to formally confirm the existence of the Watch D3, along with its specifications, pricing, or target launch markets, the Indonesian certification suggests significant progress in development.
The device is tentatively anticipated to debut in September 2026, likely coinciding with Huawei’s forthcoming global announcements.
If introduced, the Watch D3 could fortify Huawei’s foothold in the ever-expanding market of health-focused wearables, particularly appealing to consumers in search of comprehensive cardiovascular monitoring capabilities.

For the moment, this certification serves as the clearest indication that Huawei is indeed preparing to roll out a successor to the Watch D2, with further details expected to surface ahead of the company’s September launch event.
