Apple Faces Class-Action Settlement Over Delayed Siri Features

The claims portal for Apple’s $250 million class-action lawsuit settlement concerning postponed Siri AI features has now been officially activated.
The litigation, initiated by U.S. consumers following Apple’s initial marketing revelations about its artificial intelligence advancements, contended that the Silicon Valley titan engaged in misleading promotional practices.
Consumers maintained that Apple extensively touted personalized Siri capabilities, only to dramatically delay or retract those features upon the release of the devices.
Despite denying any wrongdoing, Apple has opted to settle the dispute with a payout of $250 million, thereby sidestepping the financial burden and disruption associated with a protracted legal confrontation.
However, not all iPhone aficionados are eligible for this disbursement. The settlement is expressly limited to residents of the United States who purchased specific flagship models within a defined timeframe.
For Canadians, eligibility hinges on the emergence of a comparable lawsuit, which appears inevitable given past occurrences. Meanwhile, we are still awaiting payouts from the prior iPhone battery settlement, which has been protracted.
To qualify for a distribution from the settlement fund, the following criteria must be satisfied:
- Location: Applicants must reside in the U.S. and have acquired the device within the country.
- Eligible Models: Only those who purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, or iPhone 16 Pro Max qualify.
- Purchase Window: The device must have been purchased new between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.
- Original Purchaser: The claimant must be the original buyer for either personal or business purposes (resale purchases are excluded).
During the claims process, petitioners are required to affirm that they acquired the phone under the expectation that the advertised Siri AI features would be available at launch.
The base compensation per qualifying device is anticipated to commence around $25. However, this figure is fluid; the total number of legitimate claims filed prior to the deadline and any remaining legal costs could influence the final payment, potentially escalating it to a maximum of $95 per eligible device.
