Potential Compensation for Recent iPhone Purchasers Following Apple’s $250 Million Settlement
Consumers who acquired a new iPhone within the past few years may soon find themselves eligible for compensation, as Apple has consented to a substantial settlement amounting to $250 million.
This development arose from a class-action lawsuit that accused the tech titan of engaging in misleading marketing practices during the introduction of its artificial intelligence offering, termed Apple Intelligence.
Initially, Siri AI was promoted as featuring innovative enhancements compatible with the iPhone 16; however, these promised advancements ultimately failed to materialize.
Subsequently, a legal action was initiated against the company’s marketing tactics, leading to potential recompense for users who purchased either the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16.
Nevertheless, despite Apple’s substantial financial outlay, a significant portion of the settlement will be allocated to legal and associated expenses, suggesting that payouts may not be as generous as anticipated. Eligible iPhone users might expect a maximum disbursement of around $95.
Eligibility Criteria for the Apple Lawsuit Settlement
The criteria for determining eligibility for the settlement payout are quite stringent; however, consumers who purchased one of the following devices in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, may be entitled to file a claim:
Claims can be submitted through the settlement page, which will require the input of your device’s serial number. Some eligible users may have already received emails containing a PIN and Claim ID necessary for submission.
Payouts are projected to be disbursed post-February 2027, as the hearing for Final Approval of the settlement is still pending.
Concerns Regarding the Initial Marketing of Siri AI
Upon its introduction at WWDC 2024, Siri AI was showcased as possessing the capacity to comprehend user screen activities, utilizing data from various applications to respond to inquiries and perform tasks autonomously.
However, these advertised capabilities were not fully developed at launch, and when Apple Intelligence finally became available, several anticipated enhancements were conspicuously absent.
The promotional showcases presenting an upgraded Siri became integral to the company’s broader marketing strategy for Apple Intelligence, leading consumers to expect these features to be included in the new AI experience.

Subsequently, Apple clarified that the implementation of all promised functionalities experienced delays due to necessary restructuring of Siri AI.
This postponement ultimately became a focal point of the lawsuit, which Apple has now resolved.
