Apple’s $250 Million Siri Settlement: Understanding the Lawsuit
During Apple’s WWDC 2024 event, the tech giant unveiled cutting-edge, AI-enhanced Siri features characterized by personalized contexts, enhanced on-screen awareness, and inter-app functionalities.
The lawsuit originated in 2024, filed by Peter Landsheft in a federal court in California, as the promotional materials generated explicit expectations among consumers regarding the capabilities of the upgraded Siri.
However, the iPhone 16 series, launched in September 2024, fell short of fulfilling the anticipated Apple Intelligence functions, as many features were significantly diminished or altogether absent.

The plaintiffs contended that Apple’s advertising misled consumers into making purchases under false pretenses.
Subsequently, in March 2025, Apple announced a postponement of the Siri AI enhancements. Despite the allegations, Apple refuted all claims against it and opted to accept the $250 million settlement without admitting to any wrongdoing.
The company stated that reaching this resolution would enable a renewed focus on the advancement and delivery of its products and services.
