Rise of Vibe Coding: Startups Leverage AI for App Development

As “vibe coding” emerges as a prominent term on the global stage, domestic startups are eager to capitalize by creating tools that empower users to develop applications merely through descriptive requests. These innovative enterprises envision a future where software is articulated in layman’s terms and constructed by artificial intelligence (AI).

This revolutionary approach permits users to instruct an AI platform—using straightforward prompts—on their requirements, resulting in the generation of code and user interfaces in mere moments.

“For instance, a user can simply state, ‘Create a dashboard to monitor customer orders,’ and the system will produce a layout that integrates with the provided data and embeds fundamental logic,” explained Jinen Dedhia, co-founder of DronaHQ, a low-code platform currently developing its own vibe coding solution.

Recently, the term has gained notable traction in the United States, fueled by platforms like Replit, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, and Bolt, which are championing its worldwide adoption. In India, however, a distinctly vigorous movement is taking shape.

Bengaluru, along with other tech nuclei, is hosting Vibe coding hackathons, as startups such as Rocket.new, TableSprint, Emergent, Composio, and DronaHQ strive to craft localized iterations intended for both domestic and international markets.

TableSprint, a no-code app builder based in Bengaluru, made waves just weeks ago with the launch of its vibe coding platform. This tool enables users to forge enterprise-grade web and mobile applications through the use of natural language inputs.

“Our website offers public applications, secure private apps equipped with AI agents, and an extensive library of templates. We also provide training and implementation assistance,” stated NagaSanthosh Josyula, co-founder of TableSprint.

The company has rapidly garnered 10,000 users, including 1,200 paying subscribers, and reports a remarkable 2x month-on-month revenue growth. There is significant demand stemming from sectors such as Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, e-commerce, and education technology, he further noted.

Emergent, another platform that debuted in June, targets non-technical founders and small enterprises. Utilizing autonomous AI agents, it replaces human development teams to manage everything from payment processing to scaling.

“With Emergent, users receive a fully prepared app complete with logins, back-end infrastructure, and payment setups,” remarked co-founder and CEO Mukund Jha.

This burgeoning startup claims that over 1 million users have successfully created 1.5 million applications within a mere 90 days.

It further asserts that it reached $10 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) just 60 days post-launch, eventually soaring to $15 million ARR a month later. DronaHQ, which traditionally focused on internal enterprise solutions, identified a significant market void.

“While tools like Lovable and Replit can generate user interfaces, they often fall short, leaving users to navigate data connections and essential elements like audit trails and single sign-on (SSO),” Dedhia stated.

With this insight, DronaHQ embarked on constructing its own vibe coding experience last January and has since rolled out a beta version for select enterprise clients.

Over 30% of early adopters have implemented the tool for internal initiatives such as dashboards and approval workflows. Dedhia mentioned that 70% of prompts now yield functional layouts requiring minimal adjustments.

The tool is slated for broader accessibility by the end of this month. Globally, vibe coding tools employ freemium or tiered subscription pricing, starting at approximately $10 per month and escalating based on usage. Most offer per-user pricing, with tailored packages for enterprise clients.

Investor enthusiasm is palpable. Rocket.new, a Surat-based startup, recently secured $15 million in seed funding. Established earlier this year, it has already attracted over 400,000 users, including 10,000 paid subscribers, highlighting the burgeoning demand. Industry analysts suggest that this marks a transformative shift in software development methodologies.

Debasish Chatterjee, a partner at Deloitte India, remarked that vibe coding is transitioning “from a mere proof of concept to a legitimate tool delivering tangible outcomes.” Startups and innovation teams in fintech and e-commerce are leveraging it to validate concepts, assess customer experiences, and accelerate iteration processes.

In the banking and insurance sectors, vibe coding is facilitating the creation of dashboards, reporting tools, and workflow applications aimed at reducing IT bottlenecks, he noted.

However, Chatterjee cautioned that AI-generated code poses its own challenges. “Such code often lacks structural integrity and uniformity, leading to technical liabilities and security threats. Developers remain essential for governance and scalability,” he warned.

He anticipates that a hybrid model will eventually arise, wherein AI generates a foundational codebase, subsequently refined and fortified by human developers.
