Google aims to further solidify its partnership with Vietnam, aspiring to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s ambitions in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), according to a prominent global executive.
In discussions with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung on Monday, Cris Turner, who serves as the vice president for knowledge & information products, government affairs, and public policy at Google, articulated the company’s intention to explore enhanced avenues for collaboration with Vietnam, with an especial emphasis on AI.
Turner emphasized that Google’s collaboration is expected to yield tangible benefits for the Vietnamese populace.
He elaborated on the country’s significant development potential, drawing on international experiences and identifying prospective areas for partnership aimed at bolstering economic, trade, and investment links between Vietnam and the United States.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Dung underscored Vietnam’s commitment to leveraging science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as pivotal engines for economic advancement.
He remarked that Vietnam’s extensive market size, favorable demographic composition, and an increasingly vibrant technology sector create a robust foundation for the country to evolve into a regional epicenter for technological development and implementation.
Additionally, Dung reiterated Vietnam’s pursuit of partnerships that integrate investment with research and development, technology transfer, and high-caliber workforce training.
The overarching aim is to fortify domestic enterprises and empower them to produce exports that can withstand global competition.
He urged Google to persist in its efforts to bolster Vietnam’s digital ecosystem, facilitating the global outreach of “Make in Vietnam” products and solutions.
Dung explicitly welcomed U.S. investments, particularly in the fields of science, technology, and digital innovation.
Google has had a foothold in Vietnam since the inauguration of its Ho Chi Minh City office in 2023. Within the domain of AI, the tech giant has collaborated with the National Innovation Center (NIC) since July 2024 as part of the “AI Vietnam Future” initiative.

This initiative encompasses 40,000 scholarships directed toward digital skills enhancement, including AI coursework, alongside programs tailored for start-ups.
In June 2025, Google and NIC escalated their collaborative efforts with initiatives designed to foster AI start-ups and enhance AI literacy throughout Vietnam.
