Apple Launches iPhone Handoff Feature in iOS 27
Apple has unveiled a highly anticipated iPhone Handoff feature with the introduction of iOS 27. This innovative functionality enables users to transition seamlessly between two iPhones, utilizing the same phone number on both devices.
T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom have emerged as the inaugural carriers to support iPhone Handoff, with Verizon and EE expected to implement this capability later this year. However, AT&T has yet to commit to offering the feature.
An AT&T spokesperson conveyed to CNET that the carrier recognizes the “potential” of iPhone Handoff.
Nevertheless, the company’s emphasis remains on enhancing “existing eSIM activation and transfer options.” This statement implies that while AT&T is not prepared to launch the feature presently, it has not definitively ruled out future support.
As stated in the report:
“While we see that there could be potential in capabilities like iPhone Handoff,” the spokesperson remarked, “our focus remains on delivering innovations that simplify life and maintain customer connectivity with assurance.”
The representative also referenced “existing eSIM activation and transfer options across compatible devices.”
In the United States, T-Mobile has instituted a fee of $5 per month for iPhone Handoff.
“iPhone Handoff is accessible on any iPhone equipped with iOS 27 through the settings menu and can be utilized from day one on the new iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo,” stated a representative from T-Mobile.
Deutsche Telekom is imposing a charge of €6.95 per month for iPhone Handoff, applicable only to plans that lack multi-SIM functionality.
