iOS 27 Beta Unveils Potential Future iPhone Models
The latest beta iteration of iOS 27 has surfaced, uncovering tantalizing insights into Apple’s forthcoming smartphone innovations, including the anticipated iPhone 18 series.
Among the revelations are potential models such as the iPhone Air 2 and a flagship iPhone Ultra, coupled with implications regarding Apple’s foray into foldable devices.
Upon examining the intricacies of iOS 27’s beta version, Macworld has identified mentions of six unreleased iPhone prototypes.
These intriguing references pertain to the iPhone 18 lineage, encompassing variants like the iPhone 18e, the iPhone Air 2, and the iPhone Ultra.
While these devices remain unannounced by Apple, the allusions embedded within the software provide compelling evidence of the company’s trajectory for next-generation smartphones.
Identification of New iPhone Models
Evidence indicates that the references have been extracted from system files connected to the iPhone’s battery management and intelligence protocols.
Within the framework of iOS 27 Beta 5, six unreleased devices have been detailed using Apple’s confidential codenames.
- V62 for iPhone Air 2
- V63 for iPhone 18 Pro
- V64 for iPhone 18 Pro Max
- V67 for iPhone 18
- V68 for iPhone Ultra
- V69 for iPhone 18e
This marks the first instance where the complete iPhone 18 portfolio has been distinctly referenced in iOS 27 beta’s underlying code. Notably, these codenames resonate with previous leaks and reports regarding Apple’s next-generation device lineup.
While these discoveries do not elucidate specifications or substantial features of the upcoming models, it is worth noting that earlier versions of iOS 27 had hinted at support for foldable displays and multiple battery configurations—features not currently present in any existing iPhone technologies.
Previous Discoveries of Concealed Files
In a prior investigation, researcher @M1Astra unveiled concealed files in the earlier stages of the iOS 27 developer beta.
This analysis revealed code fragments related to “fold state,” “mechanical angle degrees,” “angle degrees,” and “display count.”
Such findings imply that the software may possess the capability to interpret the folding status of a device, the extent to which it has been unfolded, and the total number of displays in operation.
As Apple’s September event approaches, speculation mounts that the company will pivot towards showcasing its premium offerings, notably the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside its maiden foldable iPhone.

In contrast, the base iPhone 18 and the entry-level iPhone 18e are expected to see their unveilings at a later date.
