The Upcoming Apple iPhone Release: Anticipated Launch This September

The imminent launch of the next-generation Apple iPhone is poised for September. It is widely speculated that the keynote will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a groundbreaking foldable model, potentially termed the iPhone Ultra. However, the launch of this latest device may face considerable delays. Here are the latest insights.

iPhone Ultra: Echoes of the iPhone X Launch Strategy?

In an elaborate discourse on X, titled “Foldable iPhone May Repeat the iPhone X Story,” analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TFI Securities postulated that the introduction of the foldable iPhone might parallel the iPhone X’s unveiling.

According to him, it could be presented alongside other new products, but its market debut may be postponed until later in the year.

This pattern mirrors the events of 2017 when the iPhone X was launched in November, whilst the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus made their entrance in September.

The anticipated foldable iPhone represents an entirely new category of device. Similar to how the iPhone X revolutionized technology with Face ID and an edge-to-edge display, the iPhone Ultra will introduce complex design elements inherent to folding smartphones.

Kuo emphasized, “The foldable iPhone is likely to replicate the trajectory of the iPhone X in 2017: it may be announced alongside other new models, but with pre-orders and sales commencing later.”

Challenges in Production and Potential Resale Market Dynamics

Kuo projected that while pre-order delays until the onset of the next year are improbable, the foldable phone could witness immediate sell-outs post pre-order launch.

He indicated that delivery timelines might quickly escalate to four to six weeks or more, extending potentially through December.

A limited initial supply, coupled with a distinctive design and innovative user experience, could foster a temporary surge in resale values, with prices soaring beyond the official retail cost by 50–100%.

The analyst also noted improvements in production issues and supply constraints by year-end, allowing for a clearer assessment of whether the demand for the foldable iPhone remains robust.

A foldable smartphone is displayed partially open on a metal tray beside a closed phone, both featuring metallic finishes and app icons on the screens.

This scenario is less than favorable for consumers eager to acquire the folding iPhone. Given the heightened anticipation surrounding the device, prompt action during pre-orders will be crucial.
