Recent regulatory certifications from China have ostensibly corroborated the battery specifications for Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models.
Filings unearthed within the C3 database in China, highlighted by the leaker “Digital Chat Station” on Weibo, suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro possesses a battery rated at 4,056mAh in China and 4,288mAh in the United States.
This marks a slight enhancement from the iPhone 17 Pro, which indicated capacities of 3,988mAh and 4,252mAh, respectively.
Furthermore, the iPhone 18 Pro Max exhibits a more substantial increase, with capacities listed as 5,391mAh in China and 5,567mAh in the U.S., compared to the previous generation’s 4,823mAh and 5,088mAh, representing an augmentation nearing 500mAh.
iPhone 18 Pro
| China | China Difference | U.S. | U.S. Difference | |
| iPhone 16 Pro | 3,582mAh | +308mAh | 3,582mAh | +308mAh |
| iPhone 17 Pro | 3,988mAh | +406mAh | 4,252mAh | +670mAh |
| iPhone 18 Pro | 4,056mAh | +68mAh | 4,288mAh | +36mAh |
iPhone 18 Pro Max
| China | China Difference | U.S. | U.S. Difference | |
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | 4,685mAh | +244mAh | 4,685mAh | +244mAh |
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | 4,823mAh | +138mAh | 5,088mAh | +403mAh |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | 5,391mAh | +568mAh | 5,567mAh | +479mAh |
Although the devices in these filings are not specifically designated as the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, their specifications strongly indicate a correlation with these forthcoming models.
This disparity in battery capacities between China and the U.S. arises from Apple’s decision to retain a SIM tray for international models, while American versions have transitioned to eSIM-only configurations since the introduction of the iPhone 14 series.
By eliminating the physical SIM tray, Apple is able to accommodate a slightly larger battery in the U.S. variants of its devices.
The certification documents detail battery models S2232 and S2233 for the iPhone 18 Pro and 2235L/2235 and 2236L/2236 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, exhibiting rated energy parameters of up to 21.751Wh and a charge limit voltage of 4.520V. Notably, all four battery types are validated through May or June of 2031.
These figures align seamlessly with Digital Chat Station’s previous report from June, which provided identical data for the iPhone 18 Pro.
In a subsequent post that day, Digital Chat Station asserted that earlier supply chain insights had projected the Chinese model’s capacity to approximate “5,000mAh.”
They posited that a 5,391mAh battery paired with the advanced 2nm A20 Pro chip could yield a significant enhancement in battery longevity.
The impending iPhone 18 Pro models are anticipated to incorporate a reduced Dynamic Island, a variable aperture main camera, and the C2 modem in markets outside of the U.S., among other innovations.

The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to coincide with Apple’s debut of its first foldable iPhone in September.
