iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Set to Launch in Vietnam
Apple’s most luxurious offering to date, the iPhone Duo, is poised for pre-order in Vietnam beginning October 16th.
In addition to the online Apple Store, prospective buyers can also enlist through authorized retailers scattered across the country. Notably, select retailers commenced collecting registration requests as early as October 14th.
This announcement, however, has drawn attention due to an unexpectedly high deposit requirement, eliciting surprise from many consumers accustomed to lower financial commitments from prior iPhone launches.
As detailed on TopZone’s website, individuals interested in securing the iPhone Duo must now provide an upfront deposit that reaches a staggering 30 million VND.
This figure stands in stark contrast to the approximate 1 million VND typical for deposits when previous iPhone models were introduced.
TopZone highlights that customers wishing to pre-order the iPhone Duo need to pay a deposit of up to 30 million VND.
Retail giants, including The Gioi Dien Thoai (Mobile World) and CellphoneS, have uniformly adopted this 30 million VND deposit policy for the iPhone Duo.
Research indicates that this robust deposit scheme is not an isolated initiative; multiple retailers are implementing similar measures in tandem with the launch of Apple’s coveted new products. CellphoneS’s system has similarly instituted a deposit of 30 million VND for the iPhone Duo.
While the heightened deposit might astonish many potential purchasers, it is viewed as a strategic maneuver by both Apple and retailers.
A spokesperson from a retail outlet remarked that the previous deposit amount of approximately 1 million VND facilitated a situation where a single customer could easily place multiple deposits at various outlets, leading to what could be termed “fake deposits.”
Consequently, Apple is incentivizing substantial deposits for high-end devices to mitigate the occurrence of “fake deposits” while accurately gauging genuine consumer demand.
The representative also noted that while historical data for older iPhone models has been collected for years, the debut of the iPhone Duo foldable phone demands more precise metrics due to its novelty.
From a retailer’s standpoint, a significant deposit also serves the purpose of distinguishing serious consumers from casual browsers.
This approach enables retailers to better predict purchasing power and optimally allocate scarce units during the initial release phase.
Despite these logistical advantages, the elevated deposit requirement further complicates matters for retailers.
In the event of delayed product deliveries, retailers could find themselves facing considerable backlash from customers who have committed substantial deposits.

The much-anticipated iPhone Duo is slated for delivery to Vietnamese consumers on October 23, 2026.
The device is priced starting at VND 64,999 for the 256GB model, ascending to an impressive VND 103,999 for the premium 2TB variant, solidifying its status as the priciest Apple phone available in Vietnam.
