Acuity Brands Expands with New Centre of Excellence in Cork
Acuity Brands, a premier industrial technology firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, boasts a significant presence across North America, Europe, and Asia.
With a workforce of approximately 13,000 individuals, the company leverages innovative technology to tackle challenges related to space, lighting, and other forthcoming advancements.
Through its dual business segments—Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) and Acuity Intelligent Spaces (AIS)—the organisation designs, manufactures, and delivers products and services that enhance the quality of life for many.
Jack Chambers, Minister of Public Expenditure, highlighted the establishment of the Centre of Excellence in Cork as a testament to the city’s burgeoning status as a technology and innovation hub. He remarked, “This Centre will provide Acuity with a skilled workforce and a supportive business environment, propelling their mission to develop impactful technological solutions.”
The initiative receives backing from the Irish Government via IDA Ireland.

Kevin O’Riordan, Vice-President and Site Lead at the new Centre of Excellence in Cork, expressed enthusiasm: “Cork presents a vibrant local community and high-calibre talent aligned with our mission and values. Our team will play a crucial role in shaping technological futures and delivering meaningful impact.”
Cork Chamber, representing the business interests in the region, enthusiastically welcomed the formal opening of Acuity’s Digital Centre of Excellence located in Penrose Dock.
Rob Horgan, President of Cork Chamber, emphasised the dynamic ecosystem of technology and innovation in Cork. “Acuity’s investment further reinforces confidence in Cork’s ability to compete on a global stage. Their presence will leverage the skilled talent pool and world-class research facilities available in Cork, simultaneously contributing to our thriving tech ecosystem.”

Acuity is currently in the process of recruiting for various positions, including software engineers, data and AI engineers, product managers, architects, and management roles.
