Approval of Rs 95 Crore for Cyber Security Operations Centre in Lucknow
The government of Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned an allocation of Rs 95 crore for the establishment of a sophisticated Cyber Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Lucknow.
Officials characterised this initiative as a crucial stride towards fortifying critical information infrastructure (CII) and safeguarding sensitive facilities throughout the state from rising cyber threats.
According to representatives from the IT and electronics department, the SOC will operate as a central command and monitoring hub dedicated to cybersecurity operations within Uttar Pradesh.
The centre will be outfitted with cutting-edge threat detection systems, real-time network surveillance tools, and predictive analytics capabilities, enabling it to identify, evaluate, and neutralise cyber risks before they escalate into significant breaches.
Core Functions and Responsibilities
- Protecting critical sectors, including power, banking, telecommunications, transportation, healthcare, government data centres, and other strategic installations.
- Monitoring digital networks associated with these sectors to identify anomalies, malware intrusions, ransomware attacks, phishing campaigns, and other advanced cyber threats.
The facility will also incorporate artificial intelligence-driven monitoring systems, which will facilitate behavioural analysis, early warning mechanisms, and predictive threat modelling. This capability will empower authorities to foresee emerging vulnerabilities and implement preventive measures proactively.
In addition, sources indicated that the SOC will collaborate with law enforcement agencies, cyber police stations, and national cybersecurity entities to ensure seamless information exchange and prompt responses during cyber incidents.
It will serve as a nerve centre for incident responses, digital forensics support, and the capacity building of departmental cybersecurity teams.
As cybercrime becomes increasingly intricate and transnational, officials have deemed the Rs 95 crore investment a strategic move towards cultivating a resilient, technology-driven security ecosystem.

The establishment of the SOC is poised to substantially bolster the state’s preparedness against cyber warfare, data breaches, and attacks on critical infrastructure, thereby reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s overarching aim of secure digital governance and intelligent administration.
