CEO of Hydro Space Sweden AB Resigns Amid Immigration Struggles
Abhijith Nag Balasubramanya, the visionary founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro Space Sweden AB, has declared his resignation and impending departure from Sweden.
In a forthright and critical post on LinkedIn, he lamented what he characterized as a ‘xenophobic and hostile’ immigration system.
Balasubramanya indicated that he was compelled to divest his celebrated agri-tech enterprise, known for its microgreens production, following the Swedish Migration Agency’s (Migrationsverket) refusal to grant him residency, despite the company’s commendable growth and local contributions.
“This isn’t an exit by choice. It is an eviction by an incompetent and increasingly hostile state apparatus,” he stated emphatically.
He further criticized the agency for its “gross incompetence,” “procedural cowardice,” and “systemic hostility,” calling into question the integrity of its decision-making processes.
Balasubramanya’s grievances included allegations of unresponsiveness from agency officials, a lack of guidance, and a perplexing lack of consistency in the reasons given for his rejection, which he deemed a “masterclass in dysfunction.”
His startup, Hydro Space Sweden AB, had garnered substantial traction in Skellefteå, with its product warmly embraced by local retailers, such as ICA Kvantum.
Nonetheless, he contended that the agency’s actions jeopardized not only his professional prospects but also Sweden’s aspirations in terms of food security.

- Systemic Hostility: A political climate fostering a culture that regards international talent with disdain rather than viewing them as economic assets.
“I built a fully operational company within six months that generated local employment and supplied fresh produce, contributing to the food security of Northern Sweden. In return, I encountered a lack of transparency and an utter absence of humane treatment from Migrationsverket.”

Instead, I have resolved to return to my home country to prioritize my mental health, which has been severely impacted by the Swedish Migration Agency.
Although they may have dismantled my dream company, my commitment to sustainable entrepreneurship remains intact. I shall return, rejuvenated, and apply my expertise where it is genuinely appreciated.
