Take-Two Interactive Confirms GTA 6 Marketing Plans and Release Timeline
In a promising announcement for avid gamers, Take-Two’s CEO has confirmed during the company’s recent earnings call that marketing efforts for Grand Theft Auto VI will commence later this summer. He expressed confidence in the projected release date of November 2026, alleviating concerns of further postponements.
The highly anticipated title has already experienced multiple delays, shifting from an initial fall 2025 launch to May 2026 and then settling on November 2026.
CEO Strauss Zelnick articulated during the earnings call, “Our performance throughout Fiscal 2026 has been remarkable, and we possess immense confidence as we transition into Fiscal 2027 – a period poised to be revolutionary for both Take-Two and the broader entertainment landscape – culminating in the November 19th release of Grand Theft Auto VI, with Rockstar’s marketing strategy commencing this summer.”
Furthermore, Zelnick noted, With our business momentum ongoing, alongside a robust forward-looking release schedule, we anticipate achieving record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2027.
This trajectory will establish a more elevated financial baseline, paving the way for improved profitability and enhancing our balance sheet’s strength and flexibility.
In addition to the exciting GTA 6 updates, Zelnick discussed the implications of Generative AI in gaming, specifically in regard to the upcoming title. He stated in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, regarding GTA 6, Generative AI plays no role in what Rockstar Games is crafting.
Their worlds are meticulously handcrafted, which sets them apart. Each environment is constructed from the ground up—building by building, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood.
They are not procedurally generated, nor should they be. This commitment is what defines outstanding entertainment.
Additionally, recent speculation suggested that Rockstar might prioritize a digital-only release of GTA 6 at launch, with physical versions slated for early 2027 to mitigate leaks. Zelnick refuted these rumors in a conversation with Variety prior to the earnings call, stating categorically, “That’s not the plan.”
Anticipation for the highly awaited title has remained palpable since the release of its second trailer in May of last year, adding to fans’ trepidation about potential delays.

However, today’s confirmation regarding the marketing timeline for GTA 6 should assuage fears of further postponements.
As June heralds the start of summer in the United States, fans may soon have access to Trailer 3 and additional details surrounding the game.
