Revolutionizing App Development with AI Autonomy

For years, the landscape of no-code and low-code tools has promised a new era in application development, yet many solutions still necessitate human oversight for operation, maintenance, and scaling. Consequently, enterprises often encounter protracted delays and accumulating costs before their innovative ideas manifest into tangible products.

Altan is tackling this predicament by offering an “agent-native” platform, wherein AI-powered teams autonomously design, construct, and manage software from inception to deployment.

In a recent dialogue with TFN, Albert Salgueda, the co-founder and CEO of Altan, articulated the mission: “Less than 1% of the global population possesses coding skills, yet 100% harbors ideas. From non-technical product managers at large enterprises to aspiring college students, Altan empowers individuals to transform their concepts into reality—not merely as mockups, but with the full capabilities of software and AI.”

Recently, the Barcelona-based startup secured $2.5 million in pre-seed funding, co-led by VentureFriends and JME Ventures, with involvement from 4Founders Ventures. Notable angel investors included Carles Reina (ElevenLabs), Pau Suris and Pau Sabria (Remotely), Albert Armengol (Doctoralia), David Baratech (Yaba), and Lluis Faus (vLex).

“Altan is delivering on the essential promise of the no-code movement—production-ready applications that scale,” remarked Lily Joo from VentureFriends.

JME’s Samuel Gil emphasized, “Altan is not merely a tool for prototypes; it is a platform capable of generating production-ready, ‘turnkey’ software. This sector of the market is remarkably expansive with immense potential.”

Founders on a Mission

Founded in 2024 by lifelong friends Albert Salgueda (CEO) and Tristán Pou (CTO), Altan germinated in Barcelona. Both rooted in development, they identified a significant hindrance: innovative ideas abound, yet technical expertise remains elusive.

“Altan emerged from a straightforward realization: everyone possesses ideas, but few can translate them into code. We enable every individual to manifest their vision into viable software,” Salgueda stated.

He added, “We discerned a considerable market void in this domain. While other platforms are fixated on playful coding or simplistic prototypes, our mission is to provide robust solutions that facilitate the creation of production-ready applications, websites, or products, and subsequently allow agents to manage those entities.”

The founding team, consisting of seven members, is a synergistic mix of serial entrepreneurs, graduates from prestigious institutions such as Cambridge and MIT, and former engineers from Meta. United by a common goal, they seek to redefine the contours of software in this burgeoning AI era.

Software that Operates Autonomously

Altan’s innovative platform harnesses the power of AI agents not only to develop applications but also to configure the requisite infrastructure and workflows for autonomous functionality. For instance, a restaurant could establish a website, integrate an automated reservation system, construct a customer database, and deploy an AI agent to oversee reservations and confirmations seamlessly.

“Altan empowers users to create production-ready software by articulating their vision through text or voice. The platform assembles a cadre of agents, each assigned a specific role, to actualize that vision. Altan’s AI teams comprise autonomous full-stack engineers, UX designers, and product managers,” Salgueda elucidated.

Thus far, the platform has garnered over 25,000 builders and enterprises. For example, a non-technical founder, Julius Kopp, successfully launched a software enterprise generating $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue, achieved merely 60 days after utilizing Altan.

Future Outlook

Altan plans to utilize the recent funding to expand its workforce, enhance technological capabilities, and broaden its global user base. The long-term vision is nothing short of audacious: to establish fully autonomous companies capable of launching and operating without human intervention.

“We posit that AI will irrevocably transform the nature of software. Traditional static software designed by humans for human use is a relic of the past. The future lies in bespoke software crafted by agents for agents, and Altan stands as the pioneering platform tailored for this paradigm shift,” Salgueda concluded.
