Snapchat Expands Unified Attribution to Global Scale
Snapchat is augmenting its Unified Attribution feature, extending its reach to a global audience in collaboration with mobile measurement partners (MMPs) Adjust and AppsFlyer, according to Marketing Dive. Plans are underway to further enhance this initiative by integrating more MMPs into the framework.
Unified Attribution, which entered beta testing in May, bestows advertisers with a consolidated perspective on dataset integration from both Snapchat and MMP platforms.
This innovation addresses data fragmentation and enhances critical performance indicators such as return on ad spend.
By signaling its willingness to forge tighter connections with third-party measurement providers, Snapchat aspires to empower advertisers to comprehend better what resonates within its ephemeral messaging environment and to optimize their marketing strategies more efficiently.
“The utility of Unified Attribution lies in its simplicity; it affords a singular dataset for decision-making,” remarked Adjust CEO Andrey Kazakov during an interview.
Throughout the protracted beta phase, multiple brands have engaged in trials of Unified Attribution. Notably, Mohegan Sun Online Casino leveraged data from AppsFlyer alongside Snapchat’s insights, achieving an impressive nearly 90% uplift in return on ad spend while simultaneously lowering cost per install for its app campaigns compared to prior methodologies.
Meanwhile, Muzz, a marriage application catering to Muslim audiences, utilized Adjust data in conjunction with Snapchat’s Unified Attribution, resulting in a 41% increase in installs and a 47% rise in sign-ups while decreasing its cost per installation by 29% and signaling a 26% reduction in cost per sign-up when juxtaposed with earlier campaign optimization efforts.
“For the first time, Snap’s optimization aligns seamlessly with advertiser measurement utilizing the same dataset,” stated Bright Park, principal partner development manager at AppsFlyer. “This effectively closes a long-standing gap within the industry.”
Other brands experimenting with Unified Attribution include Maestro Pizza, Codeway, and the financial application Deblock.
Focus on Performance
Unified Attribution epitomizes a broader trend in mobile measurement, emphasizing actionable intelligence over sheer data volume.
Advertisers, who once clamored for a plethora of data sources, now confront a reality where data is arguably oversaturated.
Despite advancements in artificial intelligence, navigating through vast reservoirs of often isolated information to unearth meaningful insights can prove cumbersome.
Unified Attribution offers a singular dataset for analysis, thus liberating time for enhancing campaigns in various capacities, as articulated by executives from partner organizations.
Last year, Snapchat initiated a revamp of its advertising suite to furnish its users with more sophisticated performance products.
Additional initiatives aimed at enhancing precision marketing entail collaboration with HubSpot to enhance lead generation efforts on the platform.
Snap’s parent company reported a 19% year-over-year growth in revenue for Q2, totaling $1.6 billion. Advertising revenue rose by 9% during the same period, amounting to $1.28 billion, which continues to make up a substantial portion of Snap’s overall revenue amid a burgeoning foray into hardware and subscription services.
During an earnings call, Snap’s executives attributed this momentum in advertising to a heightened response from large North American advertisers, alongside an increasing number of small- and medium-sized enterprises, as well as favorable traction for its AI-driven smart campaign tools.
“We are delivering enhanced performance, particularly for app, e-commerce, and lower-funnel advertisers while simplifying campaign management through improved automation, optimization, measurement, and attribution,” stated Snap CEO Evan Spiegel during the earnings call.
Snap has striven to distinguish itself from larger social media competitors that are increasingly adopting algorithm-driven scrolling, carving a niche as a platform dedicated to nurturing social connections through messaging. Unified Attribution may serve as another strategic differentiator.

“This initiative is beneficial for all stakeholders, minimizing non-value-added decision-making for advertisers, allowing them to concentrate on the potential value of the platform,” expressed Kazakov. “Ultimately, this enhances Snap’s competitive edge.”
