Shanghai Launches Fourth “Creative Shanghai” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Foreign Participants

Furthermore, the event seeks innovative concepts that intertwine culture with tourism and retail, such as city walk routes connected to performances and creative merchandise inspired by shows.

Focus on AI and Support for Mental Health

Hongkou District is championing projects related to AI-generated music, spatial audio, and music therapy, with officials advocating for initiatives that bolster mental health, alleviate stress, and enhance cognitive learning through musical engagement.

Matchmaking sessions will be organized to connect emerging startups with investors, legal advisors, and industry partners. Co-organizer DoBe Group will furnish office space and infrastructure, operating nearly 100 industrial parks in over 20 global cities, including Silicon Valley, Florence, and Melbourne.

DoBe Group has committed more than 17 million yuan (approximately US$2.4 million) in rental subsidies for selected projects.

Since its inception in 2023, the competition has attracted upwards of 3,200 companies. Organizers contend that this event significantly bolsters Shanghai’s aspiration to emerge as a global cultural hub.

The aim is to amalgamate culture with technology, tourism, and commerce to establish innovative business paradigms.

The Shanghai Academy of Cultural and Creative Industries plans to publish a report later this year based on data accrued from the competition, analyzing industry trends and providing guidance for future investments.
