Samsung has officially introduced the ISOCELL HPC, its groundbreaking 200MP camera sensor tailored for high-end smartphones.
This innovative sensor incorporates DeepPix technology, a feature designed to significantly enhance light capture, thereby elevating the overall quality of images.
However, it appears that the forthcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra may not be equipped with this advanced sensor.
DeepPix Technology Enhances Light Capture and HDR Performance
The ISOCELL HPC features a 1/1.3-inch optical format and utilizes pixels of 0.6 μm, mirroring those found in Samsung’s prior 200MP sensors.
The most compelling aspect, however, is the integration of DeepPix technology, which offers a novel pixel architecture aimed at amplifying Full Well Capacity (FWC).
By employing Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI), DeepPix technology enhances the photodiode capacity and its floating diffusion area.
Samsung asserts that this advancement yields a 60% increase in single-pixel FWC compared to earlier iterations.
Consequently, the sensor facilitates brighter scenes, richer shadows, and superb HDR imagery with markedly reduced noise levels.
Moreover, with its capability for single-frame 16-bit HDR, the ISOCELL HPC can achieve up to four times the color richness of traditional HDR methodologies.
This enables the sensor to maintain more authentic hues, intricate details, and realistic colors even in challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, it supports 4K video recording at an impressive 180 frames per second.

Furthermore, the ISOCELL HPC offers enhanced HDR capabilities across various zoom levels, enabling single-frame HDR at 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, and 4x in-sensor zoom. The implementation of intelligent in-sensor downscaling boosts HDR performance throughout the entire zoom scope.
On the optical front, Samsung has enhanced the sensor’s light absorption with cutting-edge technologies.
The High Precision Microlens (High-P) is adept at gathering and directing more light onto each photodiode, while High Transmittance ARL (High-T) minimizes reflection and scattering of light.
Currently, the ISOCELL HPC is undergoing mass production, signifying its imminent debut in upcoming flagship Android devices.
Speculative reports hint that the Oppo Find X10 Ultra, anticipated to launch later this year, may be among the inaugural devices to incorporate this cutting-edge 200MP sensor.
However, it appears that Samsung may opt for a different sensor in its soon-to-be-released Galaxy S27 series.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to feature the new 200MP ISOCELL HP6 sensor equipped with LOFIC technology.
If confirmed, this would mark a departure from Samsung’s longstanding reliance on the ISOCELL HP2, which currently underpins several Galaxy Ultra models, including the recently launched S26 Ultra.
