Quaker Valley Middle School Receives Apple Distinguished School Status for 2026-2029

Quaker Valley Middle School (QVMS) has once again achieved the esteemed distinction of being named an Apple Distinguished School, a designation it will hold for the 2026-2029 academic term.

The institution previously garnered this accolade for the 2023-2026 period. Its selection stems from a steadfast commitment to fostering continuous innovation in education and adeptly employing Apple technologies to cultivate exemplary learning frameworks through seamless integration in the classroom.

“This recognition as an Apple Distinguished School, for a second consecutive term, transcends mere accolades for our technological tools; it celebrates the innovative spirit and collaborative efforts of our educators and students to redefine the essence of learning,” remarked Dr. Anthony Mooney, Principal of Quaker Valley Middle School.

“It’s not about daily technology use; it’s about leveraging technology in impactful and meaningful ways.”

Apple Distinguished Schools are lauded as paragons of leadership and educational excellence, equipped with a clear vision for utilizing technology-rich environments to enhance teaching and learning.

Institutions that earn this designation showcase pioneering practices and substantiated outcomes in promoting student learning.

Kieran Vora, the Instructional Technology Specialist at QVMS, spearheaded the renewal process, following his previous success in coordinating the school’s 2023 application. The school’s affiliation with Apple recognition, however, boasts a legacy extending over twenty years.

“Since we first received Apple recognition in 2001, our technological engagement has evolved significantly. The emphasis has shifted from mere access to devices to crafting meaningful learning experiences that align with our educational objectives,” explained Vora.

“Technology serves as one of the instruments to support these goals, enhance student agency, and furnish learners with innovative avenues for engagement, creativity, and showcasing their understanding.”

“Attaining Apple Distinguished School status once again is a tremendous honor that reflects our entire school community’s unwavering innovation, collaboration, and dedication,” expressed Katy Chapman, Assistant Principal at QVMS.

“Our educators and students consistently harness technology as a robust catalyst for creativity, connection, and impactful learning, and we take great pride in celebrating this achievement alongside them!”

Globally, educational institutions are harnessing iPads and Macs to revolutionize learning experiences.

As educators integrate advanced technology into their instructional practices, they empower students to take the lead, explore new horizons, and initiate positive change within their communities.

With the designation of Apple Distinguished School, the Quaker Valley School District will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative endeavors with other exceptional schools and districts worldwide.

This partnership aims to encourage the exchange of best practices and innovative concepts, enhancing the educational journey for all students.

“I take immense pride in how our middle school prioritizes people and learning at the forefront of our instructional technology usage,” stated Brett Slezak, Director of Innovation.

Our renewed Apple Distinguished designation exemplifies this philosophy. It is not merely about augmenting technological resources; it’s about being judicious regarding the times, contexts, and methodologies through which instructional technology can galvanize learning.

We must also remain cognizant of instances where technology may not serve this purpose.
