OB Hospitalist Group Initiates Deployment of Commure’s Autonomous Coding

Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG) is poised to implement Commure’s Autonomous Coding, a strategic move aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of approximately 2,000 clinicians and over 200 care sites throughout the United States.

This innovative solution automates the coding process derived from clinical documentation, encompassing modifiers, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, and ICD-10 diagnoses, thereby assisting coders and clinicians in conserving valuable time.

Having previously integrated Commure’s charge capture technology, OBHG is now expanding the application of Autonomous Coding across its facilities.

In a span of three months, practitioners have reported an impressive 83% decrease in the time dedicated to charge entry, with artificial intelligence now responsible for coding more than 85% of all charges.

Commure asserts that its technology disrupts traditional “familiar coding” methods by identifying secondary diagnoses and specific details that manual processes often overlook.

In the forthcoming year, OBHG plans to fully integrate this transformative technology at its various care sites.

Commure’s AI platform amalgamates revenue cycle automation, ambient documentation, and agentic AI, all designed to augment operational performance and diminish administrative burdens.

Autonomous Coding is central to this initiative, significantly increasing both the speed and accuracy of coding while adhering to a documentation-first philosophy.

Dr Mark Simon, Chief Medical Officer at OBHG, articulated, “At OBHG, every innovation we adopt must enhance both quality and the clinician experience.

Autonomous coding helps us achieve that balance by accelerating coding accuracy while maintaining the highest standards for compliance and clinical oversight.”

He further emphasised, “It’s a powerful example of how technology can support, rather than replace, the expertise of our clinicians and strengthen the value we bring to our hospital partners.”

Recently, Commure collaborated with DRH Health to improve clinical documentation and enhance workflow efficiency, in integration with MEDITECH, across the DRH Health care network.
