Official Inauguration of Hadatha Cybersecurity Industry Centre in Muscat
MUSCAT, OCT 19 — The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT) has ceremoniously inaugurated the third Hadatha Cybersecurity Industry Centre at Middle East College, located in Muscat.
The event took place under the esteemed patronage of Dr Saif bin Abdullah al Haddabi, Under-Secretary for Research and Innovation within the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
This latest centre emerges from a strategic alliance between MoTCIT, through the National Centre for Information Security, and Middle East College.
During her keynote address, Aziza bint Sultan al Rashdiyah, Assistant Director General for Cybersecurity Programmes at MoTCIT, articulated that the new centre stands as the third Hadatha Cybersecurity Industry Centre launched thus far.
She characterised it as an initiative transcending mere technology; it aims to be an intellectual and scientific nexus intended to nurture creativity and expedite entrepreneurial endeavours within the cybersecurity domain.
“In this age of escalating digital threats and heightened cyber challenges, local innovation has transitioned from being an optional luxury to an unequivocal necessity,” asserted Al Rashdiyah.
She pointed out a significant dichotomy between the prevailing cybersecurity demands and the existing capabilities, illuminating the imperative role of specialised national centres such as Hadatha.
These centres function as incubators for technological ingenuity, bridge the gap between research and market readiness, and bolster Oman’s competitiveness in one of the globe’s most rapidly expanding sectors.
The selection of Middle East College as a collaborator stemmed from its remarkable readiness assessment scores and its ability to forge a strategic alliance that cultivates an academic milieu conducive to innovation in cybersecurity.
This collaboration aligns with Oman’s aspiration to emerge as a regional forerunner in cybersecurity, while contributing to a knowledge-driven economy, encouraging entrepreneurship, and generating high-quality opportunities for researchers and innovators alike.
Furthermore, the Ministry announced the rollout of the Cybersecurity Challenges Portal during the inauguration event. This pioneering portal aims to collect, analyse, and address pressing cybersecurity challenges.

The Hadatha Cybersecurity Industry Centre is a pivotal initiative within the framework of the National Cybersecurity Programme (Hadatha), integrated with Oman’s overarching Digital Economy Framework.
The establishment of the third Hadatha Cybersecurity Industry Centre in Muscat signifies a strategic advancement in fortifying Oman’s digital defence and innovative prowess. It presents substantial opportunities for enterprises to incorporate sophisticated cybersecurity solutions.
For investors and entrepreneurs, this development heralds a promising landscape for collaborations in cybersecurity R&D and commercialisation, while underscoring the burgeoning demand for expertise and innovation amidst an ever-evolving spectrum of cyber threats.
Engaging with these opportunities at present could position stakeholders as pivotal figures in one of the region’s most rapidly developing and crucial industries.
