Netflix Prepares to Launch Unique In-Pub Experience for Upcoming Series

Netflix is set to unveil an intriguing promotional initiative, but this exciting program will not be accessible through its primary streaming platform.

The streaming giant has announced plans to transform the historic Marlborough Pub in London from September 3 to September 5.

This venue will be reimagined in the style of its forthcoming comedic action series, “The Gentlemen,” which is gearing up for its second season.

Patrons of the pub will have the opportunity to discover Easter eggs linked to the show, created by renowned filmmaker Guy Ritchie, while savoring a Stella Artois beer and acquiring exclusive merchandise, including an intricately engraved chalice.

This collaboration represents a notable first for the series, marking the inception of a long-term partnership between the brewing behemoth Anheuser-Busch InBev and Netflix, initially announced in September of the previous year.

As part of this alliance, a series of video vignettes will demonstrate a five-step ritual for pouring the Anheuser-Busch brew.

In a correspondence via email, Marcel Marcondes, global Chief Marketing Officer of Anheuser-Busch InBev, emphasized the importance of integrating Stella Artois seamlessly into the series’ narrative.

“Our aim was not merely to position the brand alongside the storyline,” he explained. “We aspired for a level of integration such that viewers would find it challenging to separate the brand from the content.”

The vignettes will star Theo James, a key figure in the series, alongside football legend David Beckham, who has proudly served as a brand ambassador for Stella Artois since 2024.

Netflix has diligently endeavored to enhance its image as a haven for advertisers seeking innovative alignments with its popular titles, steering clear of conventional 30-second commercial formats.

In 2019, the streaming service succeeded in persuading Coca-Cola to relaunch New Coke—a previously unsuccessful variant—by featuring it prominently in the third season of “Stranger Things.”

According to media buyers who have engaged in ad negotiations with Netflix, the platform has spotlighted its capacity to forge custom partnerships with its programming.

Such bespoke offerings may lure advertisers into purchasing more conventional ad slots. Earlier this year, Netflix notably ventured into new marketing territory by integrating the well-liked State Farm character, Jake, into the plot of its sports series “Running Point.”

Expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration, Magno Herran, the vice president of global brand and marketing partnerships at Netflix, remarked via email, “We’re thrilled by how this partnership has materialized.

It’s a genuine piece of entertainment that extends ‘The Gentlemen’ beyond the screen, poised to resonate with fans globally.”

Herran continued, The show satisfies all criteria: it captivates audiences worldwide, infused with an authentic British flair that harmonizes exquisitely with a brand like Stella Artois.

This initiative provides an ideal opportunity for both the brand and the narrative to converge in a manner unattainable independently.

A person draws a thought bubble with the word Brand on a white desk surrounded by office and art supplies.

This collaboration is expected to gain visibility in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, and South Korea.

By offering engaging content, both companies aim to captivate fans globally, with the second season’s premiere on the horizon.

Social media channels associated with either Netflix or Stella Artois will further amplify this strategic partnership.
