Meta’s Muse AI App Dominates Canadian App Store Rankings

Meta’s recently unveiled Muse AI application has ascended to the pinnacle of the Apple App Store in Canada, surpassing ChatGPT to become the most downloaded free iPhone app in the nation.

As of Tuesday, Muse holds the coveted top spot on Apple’s Canadian free iPhone apps chart, closely followed by ChatGPT at a respectable No. 2, Claude at No. 3, and Google Gemini at No. 4. Notably, Muse has also secured the lead position in the Productivity category within Canada.

The exceptional performance in Canada coincides with burgeoning download estimates indicating that Muse is advancing at a pace exceeding that of ChatGPT during its initial mobile launch period.

Market intelligence firm Apptopia, as reported by TechCrunch, revealed that Muse amassed a remarkable 1.8 million iOS downloads across both the U.S. and Canada within its first 12 days.

Comparatively, ChatGPT recorded 1.3 million downloads across the same regions during its inaugural 12 days of availability on iOS.

This comparison focuses solely on iOS downloads, as the launch strategies of the two applications differed significantly.

ChatGPT initially launched on mobile in a worldwide capacity but exclusively for iPhone users, while Muse commenced its journey on both iOS and Android platforms, albeit limited to the U.S. and Canadian markets. Apptopia’s data is specifically tailored to U.S. and Canadian iOS downloads for an equitable comparison.

Across both mobile platforms, Apptopia estimates that Muse achieved a total of 2.8 million installs during its initial 12 days. Meta has yet to disclose its own download figures, leaving these statistics as estimates from third-party sources.

Moreover, Muse has demonstrated superior early engagement. Apptopia estimates the app has attracted approximately 642,000 daily active mobile users in the U.S., whereas ChatGPT garnered around 231,000 at a similar juncture post-launch. Specifically for iOS, Muse is purported to have 359,000 daily active users.

Launched on September 8, Muse functions as a personal AI assistant designed to perform tasks beyond mere information retrieval, reminiscent of SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot.

The app is capable of executing various tasks on behalf of users and can seamlessly integrate with Meta’s suite of services, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Following its release, Meta’s stock has surged by 8% over the past five days.

Moreover, Meta possesses an extensive built-in audience to promote Muse effectively. Apptopia’s research indicates that over 95% of Muse users are also active Facebook users, while 63% engage with Instagram, mirroring the smooth transition experienced during the launch of Threads.

To date, Muse’s ascendency has positioned it ahead of several prominent AI contenders within the Canadian App Store, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

New users registering on Muse can also receive 1 billion tokens for free by redeeming the code 8WYTBG in the app’s web settings within 48 hours of signing up.
