The Rise of Vibe Coding: Revolutionizing App Development

As the term “vibe coding” permeates the global lexicon, domestic startups are swiftly embarking on the creation of innovative tools that empower users to develop applications simply by articulating their needs.

Be it through comprehensive platforms or supplementary features, these enterprises are investing significantly in a future where software can be conceived in everyday language and constructed by artificial intelligence (AI).

Vibe coding enables users to communicate their requirements to an AI-driven platform through straightforward prompts, which the system subsequently transforms into code and a user interface within mere moments.

“For instance, one might instruct the system to ‘Create a dashboard to monitor customer orders,’ and it will automatically generate a layout that integrates with your data and incorporates essential logic,” explained Jinen Dedhia, co-founder of DronaHQ, a low-code platform that is actively developing its own vibe coding tool.

This concept has recently gained traction in the US, propelled by platforms such as Replit, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, and Bolt, which are spearheading global adoption. In India, however, the movement is gathering its own momentum.

Cities like Bengaluru, along with other technology hubs, are hosting vibe coding hackathons, as startups, including Rocket.new, TableSprint, Emergent, Composio, and DronaHQ compete to create localized versions for both domestic and international users.

TableSprint, based in Bengaluru, recently unveiled its vibe coding platform, allowing users to develop enterprise-level web and mobile applications through natural language commands.

“Our website features public apps, private secure applications with AI agents, and a range of templates. We also provide training and implementation support,” stated NagaSanthosh Josyula, co-founder of TableSprint.

With a user base already exceeding 10,000, including 1,200 paying subscribers, the company claims to have achieved a twofold month-on-month revenue growth.

Noteworthy demand has been observed from sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, e-commerce, and edtech, Josyula added. Emergent, another platform that launched in June, is targeting non-technical founders and small enterprises.

Leveraging autonomous AI agents, it aims to supplant human development teams, managing everything from payments to scaling. “With Emergent, users receive a launch-ready application complete with logins, back-end systems, and payment processing already configured,” asserted Mukund Jha, co-founder and CEO.

The startup reports that over 1 million users have crafted 1.5 million applications within just 90 days. Moreover, it achieved a milestone of $10 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within 60 days of its launch, which escalated to $15 million ARR the following month.

At DronaHQ, which has traditionally focused on internal enterprise solutions, the team identified a pivotal gap.

“Platforms like Lovable and Replit might generate user interfaces, yet they frequently falter when it comes to connecting data or addressing fundamental necessities such as audit trails and single sign-on (SSO),” Dedhia noted. Consequently, DronaHQ began its journey to develop a vibe coding experience in January and has since released a beta version to select enterprise clients.

More than 30% of early adopters have utilized it for internal projects, including dashboards and approval workflows. Dedhia highlighted that 70% of prompts are now engendering functional layouts that require only minimal adjustments.

The tool is slated for a broader rollout by the end of this month. On a global scale, vibe coding tools typically employ freemium or tiered subscription models, commencing at approximately $10 per month and escalating based on usage, with most offering per-user pricing and bespoke plans for enterprise clients.

Interest from investors is also escalating. Rocket.new, a Surat-based startup, recently secured $15 million in seed funding. Launched earlier this year, the company has already surpassed 400,000 users, including 10,000 paid subscriptions, illustrating the burgeoning demand.

Industry experts assert that this trend signifies a momentous shift in the methodologies employed for software development and deployment. Debasish Chatterjee, partner at Deloitte India, emphasized that vibe coding is transitioning “from a proof-of-concept novelty to a pragmatic tool that is yielding tangible results.”

Startups and innovation teams within fintech and e-commerce sectors are leveraging it to substantiate ideas, evaluate customer journeys, and expedite iterations. In banking and insurance, vibe coding is facilitating the development of dashboards, reporting tools, and workflow applications that diminish IT delays.

Chatterjee elaborated that AI-generated code is not without its challenges. “Such code often lacks structural integrity and consistency, giving rise to technical debt and security vulnerabilities.

Developers remain indispensable as guardians of governance and scalability,” he cautioned. Looking ahead, he anticipates the emergence of a hybrid model wherein AI drafts the foundational code, while human developers refine and fortify the ultimate product.
